Louisville women's basketball and compliance are finishing up the initial process of getting all the necessary documentation together in order to get immediate eligibility waivers for Elizabeth Balogun and Elizabeth Dixon, the guard and forward who transferred to Louisville from Georgia Tech. Louisville, I'm told, is being extremely methodical with the requests because you really only get one shot to present the case and the staff feels if both are eligible to play this season, the team turns right around and is a Final Four candidate again.
It's important to remember that the NCAA recently incentivized the reporting of abuse claims at schools by offering more lenient waiver treatment in exchange for students seeking a transfer being willing to disclose either abuse or NCAA violations at their previous school. Louisville feels confident that properly documented, the fact that GT fired its former coach over the same accusations they'll be using to request a waiver, the NCAA will have to grant it.
But, this is the NCAA after all.
Louisville should get an answer within a few weeks of full submission. There's no rush.
