ACC FB Attendance for W/E 11/4/23

Two things: It’s not the fans, it’s stadium capacity. The fans are awesome.

I mentioned this last week, but UK reduced capacity in 2016 by 6,000. It’s worked out for them. UofL should consider the same. With technology these days, the convenience of watching from home, the cost savings, it’s easy to understand why some people watch the broadcast from their own friendly confines. No hate here.
Funny thing then, all those empties were season ticket holders. It is the fans.

We can (or could) all take pride in our growth accomplishments across many sports including football. And I reflect back on Jurich copping the old Avis rental car slogan “we try harder.”

That is/was a statement made in the present tense. It wasn’t Jurich and U of L similarly reflecting back on what they had accomplished. The statement wasn’t “we tried harder” as if we/they had arrived and didn’t need to do more.

Staying on the rise—on Doc Ramsey’s upward “trajectory”—was and remains a process. It doesn’t allow you to scan your horizon and say “mission accomplished.” As soon as that creeps in, you start regressing. We don’t do anything but struggle to maintain the status quo in just about everything: money, attendance, facilities, whatever. That’s trying to survive, not trying harder…
