ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) was never intended to predict the playoff. With the CFP Committee selecting the four teams, there is a human element to the process that simply cannot be fully captured by a computer. What FPI can be used for, however, is to predict the strength, win totals and dominance of teams going forward.
Based on FPI’s 2015 projections and the factors that the committee valued most in 2014, the ACC enters the year with more uncertainty than any other Power 5 conference.
