Who gets fired?

I’ll start - Manning, Jameson and Wagner. Who else?

I watch other teams and theirassistants are up and actively coaching especially when their team is on defense. For us, Manning and Jameson are glued to their damn chairs. Nolan Smith gets up occasionally.

And Milt Wagner not being able to get his grandson to even truly consider UofL is an abomination. Hire an up and coming coach with some energy for that role.

I honestly don’t know how to evaluate how much of this is coaching or lack of basketball players. It is a combination of both. Remember the last time the fans hollered for assistants to be fired that didn’t work out to well.

The bottom line is this staff failed to reach this group of players. That doesn’t mean they won’t reach next years team. We know the roster will be overhauled. We know where KP stands on the players. No clue what he thinks on his staff.

I can see the future and next year we will win 12 games and everyone will say they are doing better. We have won three times more games than we did last year. Then the lines become blurred and we no longer think about winning National Titles. We will become happy with 18 wins a year and a spot in the NIT.

Follow the money. If enough season ticket holders drop then Heird will have no choice. UofL simply cannot afford financially to have marginal basketball.

Marginal basketball? We're quite a ways from being marginal. This is truly bad basketball.

The post I was referring to suggested we’d eventually settle into a 18 win per year team, which is marginal. Trust me, I’ve been to nearly every home game this year, I’m painfully aware we aren’t remotely close to marginal.

the case for firing KP is very strong. we are near the bottom of nearly all categories. we won 4 games. none on the road. we are often double digit underdogs against average teams. few signs of improvement.

what is the case for keeping KP, besides the financial aspect?

Hard to find one but Louisville isn’t the Fed they can’t print money to fix mistakes. This could become some what of a rabbit hole because they aren’t any clear choices.

I have not heard anyone make a really cogent argument on that front. Aside from the dollars, there is no justification. Unfortunately this decision cannot be made “besides the financial aspect”.

I wish they would broadcast the end of year meeting between Josh Heird and Kenny Pain.
The question I want to hear answered is, “Kenny, what’s going to be the difference between this year and next year?”

I bet they don’t fire anyone because I don’t think KP is aware of how awful of a job this staff did this year. He seems to think the players just wouldn’t play hard,

That the players wouldn't play hard demonstrates what they thought of the staff and its performance. No one with even only one foot, in reality, could possibly think that the staff's performance - from the effort to the execution - wasn't awful. In fact, "awful" is understating it.
