I like where we are right now. I like Ryan starting, but I’m betting he’ll move to the bench once conference play starts and Williamson gets the big minutes.

Enoch
Sutton
Nwora
Williamson
Perry

Malik is 6 man upon his return. Probably can switch Sutton and him out based on need

McMahon has earned time as first guard up

Kimble needs to find consistency, but he’s the backup point guard

That’s probably out top 8, that’s where the rotation will be come March I bet

Aidan and Quinn will fight for that next big man spot

David Johnson hasn’t gotten back yet. I think he will play, but I don’t get too high on a freshman that has missed significant time due to injury and throwing him in against the toughest part of the schedule.

Nickleberry doesn’t look like he’s going to crack the rotation this year. Maybe next year.

It's going to be hard to keep David Johnson out of the rotation because of his skill set. Coach Mack will have options to play certain players based off need. If Fresh Kimble keeps improving, the pressure for Perry to deliver as a PG increases. I don't see a need to play anyone 38 minutes a game based off our rotation. We are stacked at every position. This season is going to be fun and interesting.

I see a rotation as 7-8 guys. If he’s good enough he will play some, but does he pass McMahon or Fresh in the rotation? Because you already have Williamson and Perry looking like the top 2.

Not saying David Johnson won’t play, but again he’s a freshman we’ve never seen play. He hasn’t practiced or played any games at this level. He’ll need to get up to speed and get his conditioning right way, on top of the transition from high school to division 1 he has to make.

By the time he’s back, it will be against tougher teams and you don’t want to throw him out there. And we don’t know if he’s ready to go from day 1. Yeah he’s a top 100 recruit, but it’s not like he was an elite prospect.

Some guys are ready to contribute day 1 like Chane and Wayne, and they were burger boys. Siva really didn’t get too much time as a freshman. VJ King was a top prospect and had elite skills, even he was not ready as a freshman.

King wasn't ready as a Jr. I did believe more of the Freshman would be ready to contribute more but we only have 1 that has stepped in. I'll wait and see on Johnson.

If DJ is good enough, he'll play.It was tough for any Freshman to see a lot of minutes under RP and very few did.

I'm looking forward to seeing him in action.

To be honest, I think Mack is starting to trust Ryan more with running the offense. Perry makes things happen with his athletic ability whereas Ryan is very basketball smart and is starting to see the entire court. He made some great passes and now seems to know when to shoot and when to drive/pass. Perry may be more of a 2 and his mins might suffer with DJ healthy. Kimble right now seems to be the backup PG.

David Johnson has practiced at this level, they get limited practice in the Summer. And the whispers from those practices are that David Johnson was going to run the PG position. Now I’m going on hearsay of someone close to the program so take that for what it’s worth. But from all accounts, he’s going to play and be in rotation.

Johnson can play and will be in the rotation.

I think the opposite. McMahon will get picked on defensively as the competition improves and we will be in a situation where if he isn't hitting shots he isn't helping. I think he eventually ends up being a spark plug offensively off the bench.

Some of his defensive liability will be minimized by having Malik back, plus even though we blew them out, we still only outrebounded them by 5. That’s got to be some concern. I also think Perry is more foul prone right now. When Perry is good, we can be really good.

I see the rotation being fluid. We have shown we can play small ball or go big. Turnovers, playing solid D, and/or hot shooting will be key factors when you look at Johnson, Williamson, or McMahon. Or Williamson, Sutton, or Nwora. Or Nwora, Sutton, or Williams. Against teams like UK, I could see Fresh and Perry playing together bc of D. Good problems to have!
