When they say "trap game," they mean games like this Saturday.

Cards are feeling good, playing well, and coming off an upset win over a highly ranked team. Clemson looms. But, first, James Madison. The Cards admittedly did not take BC seriously, and were unprepared against Syracuse, so laying a stink bomb has been part of the fabric of this team. To make matters worse, the opening line was Cards -10. It's now down to -7.5. The Dukes are coming off a bye, too, and a two game losing streak. They'll have ample time to prepare and heal, plus the motivation of beating an ACC team. Everything you can throw in there is there. Trap game, 1,000%. Let's not forget JM was ranked just a few weeks ago.

I would love for this to be an " underclassmen game"
UofL is up by 50 so that either at the half or mid third quarter, the Cards are only playing 2nd,3rd teamers and walk ons.
Resting the starters for Clemson.
The players are focused on JMU, but im focused on Clemson 🤬

How do you know the players are focused? They’ve pooped the bed plenty.

Never thought of it in those terms but yes, a CLASSIC "trap game" situation.

Peace

No doubt. No time for taking steps backward and it’s on the coaches and leaders of this team to keep everybody on edge.

A few weeks ago it looked like a game in which JMU would be a prohibitive favorite arriving here …… those two losses brought reality to their fledgling program.

No one has been able to explain the loss to BC, but Syracuse was clearly under-rated by everyone, and they were the better team when we visited them.

Can it actually be a trap game for UofL if the only team to be ranked this year is James Madison?!

Losing this game undo's all the goodwill they have gained over the past three weeks. I hope the coaches have them dialed in for this one. I don't know why they wouldn't be after whiffing on the BC game.

A trap game is a game you look over and no one talks about. Everyone and their grandmother is calling this a trap game which means.... it’s not a trap game. This is a good worthy opponent that was ranked 2 weeks ago. No one is taking them lightly. Boston College was a trap game. Everyone in the media is telling you how bad this team is and how it’s the worst P5 team in the country. That’s a trap game. You will see that Saturday when these guys are clicking. The spread vs BC was -16.5 if o remember correctly. This game is -7.5. Georgia is favored by 8 to beat Tenn. No one is considering that to be a trap game. Any mans game. You don’t do your job and wake up with some fire you WILL lose.

I get images of Steve Kragthorpe putting mousetraps around the football complex to get people to think about a trap game. I really don’t like all this talk- it gets people to start thinking they can lose, and subconsciously wears away their confidence.

What's concerning about the -7.5 point spread is that it opened at -10. The gambling public is taking JMU. And, of course UT isn't a trap game for UGA. It's a #1 vs #2 match up.

The 2 places I bet it opened at -7.5 and has yet to move. Where did it open at -10? Trap games are created by the voices around uou. That’s my point. No one anywhere has said JMU sucks or should he a blowout. Everyone on UofL knows that team was ranked 2 weeks ago.

ACC gold standard is next week. Over looking JMU isn’t out of the realm of possibility, thus a trap game. Satt’s Cards have a history of not being prepared. That also plays a role. Scoresandodds.com had the opening line at -9.5. Circa Sports had it -10.

Not just Satt’s teams- UofL in general struggles against lesser opponents sometimes. We tend to play to the level of the competition.

Hoping our team, especially our defense, has developed a killer instinct that shows up every game. Like sharks who have developed a taste for blood, they don’t care who they bite…they just want to BITE!!!!

I think it is good thing the whoever is coaching the defense learned that we can play man instead of zone all damn day praying that the blitz will get there.
