What a damn good game......

1. A lot of UK fans were rooting for UL to win the title in '13.

2. Several UK fans came to congrats UL on a good game that season when UL beat UK at the Yum.

So its unfair to just assume every UK fan would avoid this place after a loss.

some people find that odd. No shortage of persons with undergrads from the one and graduate or post-graduate work from the other, children who went or go to either University, and so on. There is more to the fan bases than meets the eye on our message boards. And thank the BLUEgrass common to us all for that.

As a UK fan who endured many years living and working in North Carolina I can promise you that the rival program and fan base most dislikable is outside of this state and by a long shot. A very, very long shot. Any UK fan who has ever lived or even stayed in the state of North Carolina for any reasonable length - a couple of weeks would do it - would feel the same.

I remember when I had season tix for UofL. The couple next to me would cheer loud and proud for the Cards every game. But when we would host UK, the wife was decked out in Blue cheering the Cats. But the rest of the season, she was all in Red and cheering the Cards again. She went to school for undergrad at UK, but did grad at UofL. So yeah, there are fans that cheer for both.

LOL! No they weren't.

Yeah they were. Were you that drunk during 2013? Not only was it on the news but my UK board was littered with fans saying they wanted the title to stay in state. KSRadio kept talking about it and Matt Jones of course was calling that portion of the fan base nuts but some were still calling in to say they wanted the title to stay in Ky just to make our rivalry that much better.

Here is a link to an article by Mark Story that shows that some UK fans were wanting UL to win

I can confirm that, at least on the UK boards, there WERE those who were rooting for UofL. It actually caused quite a bit of dissension on the board between those who could/would root for UofL and those who felt no "true" UK fan could ever root for UofL. And since message boards are the extreme in fanaticism, I would have to assume if some UK message board posters were openly rooting for UofL, then some of the less extreme fans were as well.

It was a heck of a game. I honestly went into the game very worried that we would take a loss. Our guys actually came out and hit some shots (which that haven't done much of this season) and played with a much needed intensity. As much as it really pains me to say this, the Cards are playing really well this year. I thought it would be a down year for you guys.

Bs! It was very very very few. Just as very few of us rooted for UK at the FF. You don't cheer your arch rival. Rule #1

Why i don't respect any true Card fan that says he roots for Uk . Sorry you can't do that on either fanbse.

Fans can do whatever they want to do. It seems that every fanbase has those that want to tell others who they can cheer for and when they can cheer for them, smh.

Yeah I agree uk fan base is known for just that !

What Steelers said was true. I have family and friends that cheer for UL every game they don't play UK due to a) they're in the state of Kentucky, and b) Pitino. They also cheer for every other team in the state. A lot of people have friends and family members that are "arch rival" fans and would like to see them happy with a title or win for the sake of them being happy and families/friends happiness is more important than bragging rights.

A very small percentage of fans actually post on message boards. The message board fans seem to be have the most extreme diehard examples of hatred towards fan bases due to debating and arguing their POV's all the time. I think that's why it's easy to find some fans saying they don't mind the teams, players, coaches etc, but won't root for them due to the fan base.

I would like to start this post by saying I am a fan who loves this game and I'm not one who gets into the verbal garbage. I congratulate both teams on a hard fought game. Yes, my team(UK) won but I have the utmost respect for Damien Lee. Happy Holidays........
I respectfully disagree. The good guys lost so the game sucked. Losing always sucks. There was nothing good about the outcome of the game. It sucked.

These are very casual-type "fans" then. Definitely not the die hard types

Says who? I know plenty of die hard fans who root for other teams once their team is out of it. Being a die hard fan does NOT mean you must root against someone else... even if that someone else is your team's rival.

I know plenty of UK fans who cheered UL on the way to the title. I also know plenty who felt sick to their stomach.
Same goes for UL fans... there are those who will cheer along with their Cats friends... and some who would rather chew nails than see UK win.

There is no rule that says you can't cheer for both. I'm from Louisville... I cheer on the Cards and go to a couple of games a year. I'm from Kentucky and cheer the Cats. I'm a graduate of EKU and cheer the Colonels and the Hilltoppers... You don't get to decide what a true fan does.

Damien Lee and Tyler Ulis were definitely the best on the court in this game. Both scored and played very well and I believe well above their average game. Kudos to both though others did play well at times.

EKU and WKU are not UK's hated rivals. Try and keep up here.

I say it's about .1 of 1% or less of fans of either school ever visit a message board or post.
We really shouldn't assume their views. Our friends may share our views because people with similar views tend to be together. My Vandy & UT friends are UK fans when we are not the opponent. JMO

As I have posted before, when I lived in the area, I pulled for the Crum Cards most of the times. After being out of state for 30 years, they're just another team. (except for 1 game a yr)

I have very little interest in UofK outside of 1 game a year. I know that sounds corny but it is the God's honest truth. I have seen UofK play 3 halves of basketball this year. 1/2 of the game they played before playing UofL, and the UofL-UofK game. That's it.

What UofK does from this point forward this season doesn't interest me enough to follow them. I won't pull for them and I won't be pulling against them. I don't care if they win or lose. I'll read about them after the fact just like I'll read about other teams with a story on the sports page.

They've played better this year. They haven't shot better from outside but overall they looked WAY better against Duke. Against you guys they were outrebounded by 10, they had too many careless turnovers, and Murray & Skal sucked it up.

I was surprised how hard Louisville fought though. When we were up 16, I thought it was in the bag but UL was no joke getting back into the game. They're a legit good team this year.

Duke doesn't play tough defense, we do except for about an 8 minute stretch Saturday. Poythress getting so many uncontested looks was bad, Ulis hitting from 26' wasn't, and letting a 14% shooter like Hawkins wasn't a bad idea, that one backfired though.

My father is a huge Louisville fan and actually kind of got me to cheer for Louisville in 2013, especially to beat Duke and after watching that horrific injury. Plus I really liked Russ and Dieng (sp?) and Siva. Plus you were the best team that year. I probably honestly would not cheer for you guys again, which I'm sure you don't care, it was just unique circumstances in 2013.

Don't have a problem cheering for U of L at all was pulling really hard for the cards when you all played Auburn and against a&m too, I was a young kid when Pitino took over at UK remember what he did for the program and have never forgot, could never wish any ill will toward him.
