The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association informs us that UofL women's basketball guard Chrislyn Carr is one of 20 watch list candidates for the 2023 Nancy Lieberman Award.

Carr is a graduate transfer on Jeff Walz's roster who played at Syracuse last season, spent a year at Baylor before that and spent three years at Texas Tech prior to that.

At Syracuse, she started in all 29 games and led the team in field goal percentage (.440) and was second on the team in points per game (14.2). She was on the squad with Christianna (Chrissy) Carr (no relation)....who many sites referred to as the Carr sisters. Christianna Carr transferred to Arkansas.

Chrislyn Carr was most recently ranked No. 15 in ESPN's Transfer Rankings. She was joined by fellow Cardinal Morgan Jones, who was ranked No. 7. Louisville is one of three teams to have two transfers ranked in the Top-15.

Carr is a proven point-guard who can also shoot quite well and excels at forcing the pace and initiating the fast break.

In her two meetings last season vs. Louisville, Chrislyn had 17 points for the 'Cuse in the Cards win at the KFC YUM! Center and 14 points in Louisville's win at Syracuse.

One has to think that she'll be an integral part of the Cards line up, with Chelsie Hall graduated and Ahlana Smith transferring to Miss. State. A Cards guards line up of Carr, Morgan Jones and Hailey Van Lith --plus Kasa Robinson, Norika Konno, Payton Verhulst and Merissah Russell could be a nightmare for most opponents to face. And, this doesn't even include the freshmen guards Zyanna Walker and Jalyn Brown.

The Cards appear very strong inside, as well, with Liz Dixon and Olivia Cochran returning, transfer Josie Williams and freshmen Imani Lester, Alexia Mobley and Nyla Harris.
