Utah State is not bad they have one of the top quarterbacks in the country and one of the top linebackers in the country. They had a good year last year and they should have a good year.
Utah State has been a seriously formidable team the last few years. Learn on.

Utah State is usually one of the better G5 teams. They were 10-3 last year with their losses at Wisconsin (blow out loss), at Michigan State (by 7), and at Boise State (by 9). Phil Steele has them ranked 58th in his preseason power poll, which is 14 spots higher than Wake Forest (72nd).
Every year everybody thinks the first few games is indicative of how the season will go. We won’t know who the real players until mid season. I thought the WF vs Utah St. game was real entertaining. Both teams played hard and never quit we have to remember that when we play WF.
Mr. O’Shea you are becoming more and more disrespectful. You need to remember that you are a guest here. There are ways you can state your opinion here without being a jerk and I’d suggest that you subscribe to that method, Especially if you want to continue to post your thoughts and opinions here. Just a suggestion mind you.

Details matter ... I always love how people who only know the headlines get the details wrong....
A moron with a grudge against the new Wake Forest coach offered our defensive coordinator a copy of the playbook, and he took it.
And UofL was actually ethical enough to alert Wake Forest to the fact that we had their playbook BEFORE the game by leaving a copy out where their coaching staff could find it ... and allow them to figure out who the moron was.
Yet somehow those details are lost because all anybody can remember is “Petrino is a scumbag.”
Some would say, including me, they were stupid enough to leave the playbook out. Not sure you can take the playbook and claim anyone was ethical. Just saying.
It’s possible that it was carelessness that it was left out in just exactly the right place where the Wake Forest coaches would have to be blind not to notice it. I just don’t buy that version of the the events. It was Grantham who took the playbook ... by all accounts, one of the most details oriented coaches in all of football. Yet somehow we’re supposed to believe that he would accidentally let a copy of that playbook show up on the field, let alone in a place that WF coaches could find it?
Possible, yes. Very unlikely, however.
The OP just saw the name “Utah State” and figured they must suck because he had never heard of them.

Did you know that Utah State was ranked 14th in the nation last year in December, went 11-2 and lost 38-31 to 11th ranked Michigan St in East Lansing? Or that they have been to 7 straight bowl games?
Of course you didn’t.
Wake Forest is not good. I stand by what I said. I don't care what Utah State did last year. Not relevant. #104 in S&P returning production. If you are putting that much stock in Utah State you must have us going 9 - 3 (#24 according to S&P).
Nobody on here ever said that Wake Forest was a good team. They are one of the games on our schedule that looks winnable.
You had to knock Utah State without knowing shib about them and when I told you how good they have recently been you showed your ignorance in acknowledging that fact. Then you changed your tune to say that’s “not relevant” to this year. Any team with Jordan Love at QB is worth paying attention to.
We all make dumb statements on here from time to time, just own it. That’s the great thing about this board, you will get called out when you say ignorant stuff.
Utah State is an average team in 2019 (to use my words I would say they suck, yes). I never changed my position. They'll hover around .500 in a G5 conference. Wake forest barely beat them at home.
That has nothing to do with your post saying that I said something stupid when I told you that Utah St has been a formidable team recently.
As usual, people can’t admit that they ever said or did something stupid, which we all do. Instead, they call others stupid when they get called out.

Never judge a team by their first game because they will be a totally different team by mid season.
Yeah, and if you take our first game last year, easily our best game of the year, we simply got worse. And then the FSU game happened and the rest was history. I’m hoping that regardless of what happens tonight that we are truly a better team as the season progresses. I’m thinking that is exactly what will happen.
