Just spent the last four days around this kid and his family while preparing for the Border Bowl in Gatlinburg TN and wanted to say congrats to the Cards. Very well spoken and pleasant young man with great parents should represent U OF L very well best of luck to you both...

The Cards new staff have signed four and have two solid commits. None of them are Vonn Williams. I am aware he commited to the former staff in 2018. Do you have information that he still plans to attend UofL?

I believe he’s coming as a preferred walkon.

I mean taking his Dad at his word the new staff confirmed his offer and he’s coming to Louisville. I never asked if he’d already signed but I’d say he’s intent on attending he and his family seemed very excited about it...

Understood.

His Pops, Jacque Williams, was a helluva RB for Apollo back in the day! Super great guy too, terrific family. People like the Williams are why I miss O'boro so much!
I really enjoyed talking to his dad, I hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting them before this weekend. As corny as it sounds it’s not always about football you want to see good solid kids that’ll reflect well on your program and the Cards are no doubt getting one here.

Follow this kid last yr or 2. Think he tore a ACL or something couple years ago maybe slowed him down a little but I was hoping he came to the Ville. From what I’ve seen I would expect him to get some PT after a yr or 2 of development. I’m really excited to have him on UL team. Imo anytime a kid is willing to walk on to our school is great. I think he will contribute

His dad was a Running Back for Owensboro Catholic in the 70’s. He went on to play for the University of Evansville,if I’m not mistaken, back when they were a 1-AA program. I’ll be surprised if Vonn Williams doesn’t get some type of playing time, on defense, before his career is over. Seems to be a hard working none distraction type of kid.

U of E was never higher than DII. If he played there it was a long time ago - UE dropped football around 1980, I think.

UE was playing football into the late 90’s. They were I-AA,non scholarship, at the time. Playing teams like Morehead St,Butler,Dayton, etc. I believe they were 1-AA in the 70’s too.

I’m surprised they were at that high a level. They played in the old ICC- Indiana Collegiate Conference, with Valpo, Butler, Wabash, Depaw, St Joseph’s, Indiana Central. Indiana State was in the conference before they outgrew it. They played at a high school field (Reitz Bowl) before getting an on-campus stadium which they just used for a few years. They were good some years. I remember them playing in the playoffs one year.

You didn't ask for a screenshot or something as evidence? LOL
Kid had 4 touchdowns while splitting time with 2 other backs, thought I’d just go ahead and take his word for it lol. Second year in a row Team Kentucky has won this hope this trend with football continues there’s more talent in high school football inside the state right now than I’ve seen since moving here and I hope U Of L gets every one of them.

Aw man, blew it on Jacque. My BMF who died in 2010, Big Randy Bivin also played at UE! But I didn't miss on what a quality family they are.
