All three of these morons were clamoring to give the car keys to the new Corvette to the 16 year old (aka David Padgett). Please take the talk show, the sports anchor job and the crayon away from these guys.

Looking back, as much as I opposed it then, it would have been better to hire Crean for one year to coach. Having a young guy with zero experience at this level was stupid and a good indicator that the people who made that decision are clueless.

I would've much rather had CDP than Crean, he's lost his touch since DWade. I advocated pretty strongly for Thad Matta, thought he should've got a crack at it.

I never wanted a retread, mediocre head coach. Hiring a long term solution has always been the best answer. Padgett was/is a necessary placeholder

Matta or Crean or anyone with big time experience and some prior success would have been much better. Terrible idea to to have someone with no experience.

No one is advocating Crean be the permanent hire. It is for one season but it is a season that we needed to have some reasonable success and keep fans interested.

If our fans check out now, I'd submit their hearts were never truly in it. We could have had a better record with Marta or Crean but that would have provided an open invitation to stay longer and wallow in mediocrity

Lot of reasons we needed to have a legitimate coach this year including keeping the fans interested at a time we need support and revenue and better development of the players. There was no good reason to put Padgett on the spot like this, waste the players' year and basically kill a year for the program. It could have been made very clear that Matta or Crean were going to be here one year only.

Whoever the coach was outside of Pitino, this team wasn't going to make any noise in March. Too many deficiencies. The players clambering for Padgett didn't help matters. Who was going to tell them no after the shit show they'd been through?

It's time to simply relax and let the rest of this story play out in front of us. It's now up to the kids to take on the challenge or give up. Last night it looked as if they just want this season to end. If that's the case, then they have just 4 games left to play then they can call it a season and move on. No reason to accept any post season bids if they don't want to play.

I'm going to chill now.

Doesn't matter. The team could still be much better and competitive against good teams which we are not now. Letting the players call the shots in this regard was irresponsible.

I can guarantee you Crean would have coached his little heart out to try and land the job and wed be better off than we are now. Plus he would have beaten Kentucky. Honestly, he is a much better coach than Calipari.

I have no problem with letting DP coach this year. This team was in all likelihood never going to be more than a fringe top 25 team without Pitino. With the scandal and losing the coach right before the season started and losing what was perceived to be one of the best players on the team a week before the season started was going to be an uphill battle. Once the scandal broke and Rick was fired (and Rick more than deserved to be fired) our season was done and it was more or less just a "lets get through this" type of thing, at least from my perspective.

Now, has this season been a disappointment even by my already low expectations? Yes...I thought this team would lose 10 games and they are easily going to lose at least 12 games if not more and that doesn't even consider that they've looked absolutely horrible against UK, UNC and Duke.

You can't give DP the job at the end of the year. You just can't. The fan base is down, they're defeated, they're disheartened and this season has somehow been worse than most anticipated. Bringing back DP would be a disaster. It would cause ticket sales and fan interest to continue to plummet, I can't see it getting any recruits excited and I'm not sure it would convince any of the current roster to not transfer. You have to try your damndest to get a coach that will somehow bring excitement to the fanbase. Most seem to think the realistic option seems to be Chris Mack and I agree.

So lets see if UL can make that happen.

Valvano, Cowgill, and Sullivan are all awful, regardless of any opinion they have about what UofL should or shouldn't have done.

CDP got the trial season, didn't get the job done, knows X and O's but isn't tough enough and it shows in soft play on court. Trial season almost over, time to move on to a very weakened field due to Yahoo story. I am a huge Kevin Keatts fan as long he wasn't involved with Dennis Smith

Keatts - uh, no thanks. He hasn’t earned this job!
