UT Rick Barnes

I am not close enough to know one way or another about what CPK will or will not do. With that said, everything that I have seen and/or have heard since he arrived in Louisville, gives all of the appearances that Pat wanted to be here, likes it here and knows what this job could be like once he becomes the "permanent fixture".

The recent lawsuit between the ACC and the two plaintiffs (FSU and Clemson) has been resolved, and while I am not sure it is as good for all of the ACC members as it is for FSU and Clemson; I do believe it will bring stability to the ACC for at least the next 5 years or so.

Some of the expansion of the SEC at the expense of the ACC may subside, as I think basketball TV revenue for schools like UL could equal that of Duke and UNC; which would translate in CPK recognizing that UL may very well return to a top 5 job in all of college basketball.

It wouldn't make any sense that I can think of that PK would leave Louisville for Tennessee or anyone for that matter. I guess if enough money was put in his face but that ain't going to happen yet.

If any big name program needs a top head coach, they should go after Rick Pitino. No way he would stay at St. Johns over a bigger program. Regardless of what anyone thinks about him, he gets the job done no matter where he's at. And he does it quick.

If UNC hired him next month, the Tar Heels would probably be in the final 4 in 2027. If IU hired him, the Hoosiers would win the Big 10 within three years.

And Pitino is a fitness freak and has the energy of a 45 year old. He will probably coach at least another five years.

A lot of speculation here, but it's hard to believe that Kelsey would move again for the 3rd time in the past 4-5 years. But regardless, he's earned a big contract upgrade from UofL, and until that happens, you never know.

Kelsey's contract lasts five years, starting on Mar. 28, 2024 and ending on Mar. 15, 2029, with his base salary being $2.3 million per year. If he reaches the NCAA Tournament in any of his first three years, he will receive a one-year extension at his base rate.

I would have to imagine something is done here after the season. He isn't in the top 40 of salaries. If we want to be back, then we need to take care of coach. I know its only one year, but GOTTA do it!

If U of L doesn't raise his base I wouldn't blame him if he left and they would be fools. I don't think
Josh is any kind of fool. I would love to see PK stay here until he retires but I am not sure that type of loyalty exists in any college sport today.
