Top JUCO point guard El Ellis announced he will cut his list of schools to 8 on June 12th.
I just spoke to Ellis and here’s what I gathered:
Louisville has been in steady contact with him. When I asked if they will make the cut he said “we will see.”
But he assured me Louisville is in the mix.
Ellis said Dino Gaudio is the coach he speaks with the most. This is another situation that has seen Gaudio take the lead on a North Carolina target as Ellis is from Durham.
When Gaudio was hired, he was hired for his head coaching experience primarily. It’s starting to look like Gaudio is honing in on the state where he has deep routes.
Ellis’ recruitment has completely taken off. He has over 20 offers from pretty much every Power Five conference.
From what he said to me, I’m not overly confident Louisville makes the cut, but if I had to say one way the other, I would say the Cardinals will be on there.
He may just be trying to keep it quiet on what schools will be listed, but it’s positive that he said Louisville has stayed in touch.
I would think Louisville would take Ellis and Pettiford together in a second.
