UofL vs UK Predictions

John’s mercenaries will go 12 for 13 from the three point line, 15 for 15 from the charity stripe, and some guy that has not scored this year will come off the bench and have a career day of 18 or so points. Meanwhile DJ will have three fouls within the first ten minutes. I say the Cards lose 71-62.

I just cant pick us too many times i feel we had the players to do it. The abnormal things seem too always happen to the Cards. Last year ft shooting and Nwora no show and some struggling Uk player usually has a career day.

UK in another heartbreak game.

And just keeping in theme with how this series has gone ( see i didn't say rivalry you have to win some) this game will be played. Covid ain't going to be a factor because we always have the worst luck. However covid will strike us after this game.

I haven't watched them really. I don't have a feel for our guys either.

The one thing is that our guys aren't as experienced playing together as most teams, so we won't have that large advantage over them when we play. I think if Minland and Malik were healthy, we'd probably win by 5-10 points.

It comes down to Carlik Jones in my opinion. Without Malik, we are going to be at a disadvantage in the paint and overall at size. Not to mention we aren't going to have the depth. UKs size is always an adjustment to make no matter who we play, as usually we could just run teams off the floor with our size/speed and Rick didn't play too tough of a NC schedule. These young guys like Dre Davis will see their big guys and it will be one of the first times they'll be clearly smaller.

This is going to be the first time Carlik is really going to see some elite length and athleticism. If he can get through that easily, I think we win. If their 6'7 guards cause him trouble, I could see this being a bad matchup. I just wish Malik was on the court, because after 3 years he'd be pumped to get out there and beat them down.

I haven’t seen Big Blew play so I don’t really know how bad they are and if their problems are solvable. I am thinking if Blew continues to struggle that their could conveniently be a Covid cancellation.

In all likelihood it will be a very tough game for the Cards to win. Some people look at Uks losses and think it should be an easy win but it definitely won't be. Also, this UofL team is fairly young by our standards with our starting center out. Only other upperclassman that's been playing is Jones and this is his first year here.

Uks size will give UofL some trouble like it always does and that will be even more true with Malik out. Also when is this game ever easy since Calipari has been there? Answer - never.

I've watched them 3 times. UK can't shoot, they don't play team defensive and give up tons of open looks, turn the ball over alot and have no Point Guard. Georgia Tech ran them out of the gym. Notre Dame beat them with 7 players and Kansas played about as bad as they could and still won. Easily the wose team of the Calipari era. Jackson is a force in the middle and is the only player I have seen who who would get major minutes for us. I expect Jones and Johnson to be able to do what they want. If we half way shoot well and rebound decently it shouldn't be that close of a game. I think WKU would beat them by 10.

Wow all i'm gonna say too that evaluation.

They have already made an adjustment at PG. Lets see
How they performed against UNC.

You can say Wow but can you dispute it? You sound like a Pitino player . Beat because of the name on the jersey.
And not one guy that can match up in the post with Sarr.
And yep i'm beat when it comes to the UK game until the Cards do it i'll believe it.

It's not like they continously feed Sarr in the post. They still can't shoot, don't play team defense and turn the ball over way to much. The worst UK team in a while but I do get those in the got to see it to believe it camp. Hopefully there isn't any Nwora's on this team that will disappear in big games. From what I've seen I will take Withers and Davis over Clark and Boston at this point in their careers, and for the first time in a long time we definitely have a huge advantage at the point .

If Cal is smart he will use Sarr this game.

Cant make a prediction until I see them both play on Saturday. We havent played a game in 17 days and UK is going through friggin camp cal and that always seems to wake them up a little. I do wonder if they have bigger problems, but time will tell!

I think what many are saying is that you can throw almost any weakness they have away in this rivalry game. For instance, you say Uk can't shoot the ball, yet watch them shoot an uncharacteristically high percentage against the Cards. Or they will have some bench guy that hasn't scored 5 points all season go off for 20 pts and then never do that again his whole college career.

Look I think UofL can win but given the last decade of games against them, they almost always play over and beyond what they normally do while the Cards play worse than usual. If UofL blows them out in an easy win then I'll make a thread saying I was wrong.

I agree it's a rivalry and anything can happen and we haven't really held up our end of the deal but when you look at the teams and the way they played it's the best matchup we have had in a while.

I’ll admit I haven’t watched UL play this year but , I’d say you guys are going to kill us .

the kitty kats only have 3- five star, and 5 four-star players this year, so UofL might actually keep it close. . but i think UK will be hot in the first half and then stay strong in 2nd. UK by 8. : ( its just the way it is

Ky hasn’t been 1-5 since before Adolf Rupp started a basketball program in a football conference. However, that 1-5 team will look like the 1992 Dream Team on Dec 26. I predict some walk on GPA booster will come off the bench and score 14 points.

Ky 66, UofL 52

I predict a whole lotta pressure on Mack to win this game. And a lotta disgust if he doesn't...

No different than any other year right? Yeah UK is way down but it's not like the Cards are rolling in hot, or look like a team that can go .500 in the ACC. It's not like Mack is 0-8 in this game. Yet. LOL!!!!

UofL doesn't look good on paper at all right now, it's not like this is a top 10 team with multi 1st round draft picks this year. Does the look change before the UK game? Getting Jones back is gonna help, but the front line is officially exposed.

There's a lot of pressure on the UofL HC to win this game every year, especially recent years, it's a game the program just doesn't win. There's a lot of disgust every year the team loses the game, for a # of reasons, and yeah some years the finger gets pointed straight at whoever is in charge.

UofL should have won this game a few times when they didn't, and I think last year was one of those times. So yeah it's okay to bring some heat to Mack it's not like he gets a pass on all things...but I think there is a lot going on right now that goes beyond one guy.

I am here to chit chat but not sure how much emotion too many fans have to find "disgust" with a college basketball game or program right now. I know a lot of people have different life experiences just not sure how much intensity there is for all of it these days.

These teams are taking random times off and literally shuffling schedules and players at the last second.

All good points. Most Card fans I know don’t expect a victory on Saturday. And nobody even mentions pressure on Mack to win this game. After what is it now 9-10 in a row the Cards have come up short against them, I just assume another defeat is coming. And after watching yesterday’s games, I am quite sure it won’t be close.
As someone posted earlier, I will gladly engage in a thread of “I was wrong” if the Cards win.

It’s hard to predict a Cards win next weekend after seeing them lose by 40 to Wisconsin... How much did COVID or no Jones impact the game yesterday? Have our post players and wings been somewhat exposed? Those are the questions I’m wondering right now.

I was feeling good about the game against UK until yesterday. I felt good about the Cards last year and other years...

I think Cal will have the Cats ready to play against the Cards as usual and considering how this game has played out over the last... I don’t know... 10 years or so. It just seems like it’s setting up for the Cats to get healthy next weekend. I hope I’m wrong. I have a feeling Sarr and Clarke are going to have big games next weekend.

Definitely the Cards’ best chance to win this game since 2014. Let’s get em!

Its hard to even tell how good, or bad, this UofL team even is right now. Only played a handful of games and the first ranked team they play, they get dump trucked by 40 points. Yes Jones being out was big but they probably still would've lost by 15 or 20 or maybe more.

Yes Uks record is awful but they still have talent and size. But it's not like this is some juggernaut UofL squad either, at least not from what they've shown so far. This Cards team has plenty of holes in the roster too. For those reasons and the ones shown by the past decade, I'm not expecting a win against them but will be pleasantly surprised if they do it.

I just can't put a lot of thought into Saturday. Yes, it was very rough, but the team hasn't practiced together in 2+ weeks, missing Carlik who averages 17/7/5 and obviously runs the show for this team. Let me see how things look on Tuesday, but either way I think we have a very solid chance to win next Saturdays game. ND and GT (SOUNDLY) beat them which tells me we certainly can. Next 5 days are massive to practice and get a win.

I watched them Saturday and looked at their other games.

Looks like their issues come down to their bigs getting in foul trouble. I think we may be the first team that they’ll have a really big size advantage over and our skinny bigs worry me quite a bit.

They’ve played good defense most of their games, so it’s gonna be hard to score. We have to really take advantage of every opportunity.

If you're not beating a slapd!ck team that's 1-5, you're not beating a slapd!ck team period. Watered down, philosophical talk about this game and the context for it this year sounds like rationalization and self preparation that makes little sense to me.

As most know--and dating back years--I've advocated that this game no longer be played for exactly that type of fan reaction. It's ridiculous to play it when that's the sentiment it evokes.

I couldn't care less about LPT or playing them regularly in any sport anymore. We've moved past the point where we need this game (or that used to be the case before we routinely played games in front of thousands of empty seats). However, many U of L fans feel differently. And when you can't hold your team, your coach, and your school accountable for a game that supposedly means so much to you, why are you even watching so-called "rivalry" games? Again, it makes no sense.

Hell yes, Mack will be under a lotta pressure to win this game if you still want the game played. Your chance will seldom be better than this year. And if that describes you and your viewpoint, have the guts to admit it and stop making excuses for an outcome you're afraid of...

"I think we may be the first team that they’ll have a really big size advantage over "

This is really the main issue i don't like our chances people keep trying to use the examples of them losing to certain teams . Those teams have things we are lacking at present and without Malik and no true big amn that is really capable of helping we are going too struggle all year against certain teams.

Two ACC teams ranked 9th and 12th in the preseason have beaten LPT this year...
