It was learned on Friday that UofL WBB has paused all team related activities due to a positive COVID 19 test and accompanying contract tracing measures among individuals within the the program, according to UofL Vice President and Director of Athletics Vince Tyra.

Because of this, the scheduled Sunday 12/13 - 4 p.m. game against North Carolina has been postponed.

This pause follows a positive test on Friday within the "Tier 1" Individuals. Tier 1 consists of student athletes, coaches, team managers and staff. The team is adhering to protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report.

The positive test result was detected during the team's regularly scheduled COVID-19 testing on Friday. The Cards had just returned from a contest at Duke on Wednesday. As of this writing, no positive tests have been reported by Duke athletics and their game against at Miami (FL) is still scheduled for Sunday. The team gets tested three times a week per protocols

Due to HIPAA regulations, we don't know who it is, just yet.

The HIPAA Privacy Rule protects the privacy of patients’ health information (protected health information) but is balanced to ensure that appropriate uses and disclosures of the information still may be made when necessary to treat a patient, to protect the nation’s public health, and for other critical purposes .

"We are obviously disappointed but unfortunately this is all part of the 2020-21 season. We are following proper protocols, monitoring everyone closely and look forward to getting back out on the court again soon" head WBB coach Jeff Walz commented yesterday.

This comes as the men's squad has been allowed to return to practice after a COVID 19 pause in their program.

There is no determination yet on how this will affect games past the Dec 13th contest. The Cards were at the start of a three-game home schedule, which also included Florida State coming to the KFC YUM! Center on Thursday 12/17 and Miami visiting on Sunday 12/20.
