GaTech is a semi-talented team (at least their startling five) and had they not had a key injury earlier this year, had a decent coach and didn’t have NCAA sanctions hanging over their season - they would at a minimum be a NCAA tourney bubble team.

That being said we shouldn’t have lost to them.

There are a couple games a year where a team plays above their head and OTOH well below their ability. Think @Duke and @ G Tech are the outlier examples.

I remember we used to judge speaking contests and the final tally would always eliminate the lowest and highest score for a contestant.

The median is pretty good for us. Not outstanding, but not bad.

It’s an often overused argument in college basketball but good teams usually have a leader or two on the floor.

Who is a leader on this team? By example it’s probably the gritty Sutton but it wouldn’t hurt if this team had a vocal leader on the floor and in the locker room to get guys going when they look they just barely showed up.
Too bad David Johnson is just a freshman because he could fill that role.

When your ‘go to’ All-American is as aloof as Nwora is, it could make all the difference for a team with plenty of experience and talent enough to win a Title.

Yes it’s go time to settle on the finishing 5. We have 6 games left that will be NCAA Tourney tough:

Va Tech, Cuse and UVA fighting for signature wins to get off bubble and FSU for potentially outright championship + UNC and at Clemson.

Everything will be a battle with the final 4 minutes to determine the outcome and I don’t think we know who our last 4 minute rotation is and what we will do. That must be decided in practice and team meetings now rather than keeping with inconsistent late rotations and offensive sets.

Georgia Tech has decent starting 5 talent, but they have no bench and they have a really bad coach. There is no excuse for losing to that team last night no matter how bad the officiating was. It was bad officiating for both teams to deal with.

we look tired. we've only been able to play with energy for a full game just a few times. i would switch in and out of zone a little more. our D won't have to run around all those screens. we struggle keeping the fast point guards out of the lane so it might help. at least it would give the players a little rest and keep the opposing team out of the double bonus too early.
