What do people see in him? He cannot dribble or get his own shot not athletic cant play defense he is taller Locke with less ball handling skills.

It would be embarrassing if UofL even offers this kid !!!

I tend to agree but it I am not going to be embarrassed if they offer him. Geez come on. Payne has to fill a roster.

Good size, and can shoot it. He apparently he has a good relationship with Payne. The upside is much bigger than the downside.

Think about it this way what if is develops at Louisville into a six man of the year type kid. It would send Big Blue into a frenzy plus make Louisville better. If he doesn’t develop no big deal. Good player to fill a roster spot.

Granted, the 2020-2021 UK a season was a disaster, but without Allen’s 3 point shooting, they would have lost several more games. There were many instances that season where he was the “go to” guy.

Samuel Williamson could create his own shot; problem was it seldom went into the basket. Say what you want, Allen has a very nice shot.

It’s pretty easy for those of us who watch TT, Auburn, Arkansas, St Peter’s, or teams like Miami that end up with kids who can defend, can jump, can hit critical 3s and have the ability to finish on a regular basis; what is more challenging is identifying them before they enrol at the aforementioned Universities.

I am not sure anyone knows whether El Ellis is not one of those who fits the model described above; when he arrived on campus he was without the HC for the first 7 games ….. not sure he ever enjoyed the same opportunity as other first year kids. Hell, no one even knew who Curry was until well into the season.

I thought you were on the Payne Train?
And has nothing to do with Payne . I just want to know what everybody sees in him . Maybin and Eaves want this kid . I hear alot of people that know BB way more than me like him. And i also hear the same things from those that know BB that have the same thought about him as i do. I trust KP he knows what he wants doesn't mean i think less of him . He just like any coach they going to get players they feel fit what they running . And one thing i'm not a fake fan i stand by you but i'm not going to always like everything you do also. I was a big Mack fan till it was obvious he just couldn't get it done.

LOL i sure the heck don't need anybody on here answering nothing about KP to me. Enough BS fodder about not even wanting him.

Payne obviously knows Allen from his time at UK. Maybe he sees something he can use out of the kid that Calipari didn't or couldn't?

All I know is the dude was virtually automatic from downtown. If he comes here and shoots 30 percent from 3, it's time to check the lighting at the Yum center.

When Noah Locke came here I thought he was going to be the specialist that mostly did what he's good at which was 3 pt shooting. But he wanted to expand his game and well, we all saw what happened.

Maybe Allen is willing to be that zone buster, that 3 point threat, much like Ryan McMahon was? Opposing teams had to keep McMahon in their game plans because the dude could shoot.

KP may have or is going to get the lane drivers, the shot creators, and he wants to have that dead on 3pt shooter that makes defenses not help on drives to the goal?

This is what Maybins take on him is basically . He explained his wanting because people were giving him crap on Allen with similar comments as i had. He conceded Allen has no other skills though!

The pushback to Maybin was this . Calipari told Allen i cannot hide you defensively . And KP talks about wanting players with a motor for defense itwas obvious Allen could not do that why he did not play.So Maybin goes he will just have to accept a situational role on the team and buy into that. I just don't see him doing this he can go to WKU and thrive .

If you go back and really pay attention to Noah shots. His problem was fundamentals he took alot of off balance playground shots when he missed rushed. He never shot the ball the same way. Those times he set his feet and squared up and not rushed he was pure. He was really good on that trail three though.

It just feels like we need so many bodies right now, I am assuming this kid, if he does come here, would be in that role or something like it that you just put out there.

This past season he shot 7-37 (.189%), and the year before uk had the worst season in a great amount of time he shot 31-78(.397%) and thats a great percentage and he also only averaged 14min a game and most of his minutes came against lesser teams on uk schedule ! That’s more inconsistent than it is “virtually automatic“!

Yell automatic pure shooters don't fall off that much . He was just as bad as Noah and Cross and at least they did have other intangibles at times.

I'm just hoping that with needing 6-8 guys maybe, Kenny is just seeing this kid as a back end rotation guy that can maybe give you a lift some nights but not be in starters minutes territory.

Who knows, the kid may weigh his options and decide a lower tier is gonna be best for him.
