They're too rough for toilet paper. Maybe they can use them when they're having their "alone" time in mom's basement.

Im not happy about losing to UK in basketball..... i dont think anyone on here is...
That's a shame, but I guess you're gonna have to get used to it. 'Cuz beating the slappies ain't much of a priority anymore.

If you had more than 33 posts and didn't crawl out of a hole on Nov. 26, you would know my history on the subject.

Oh I know how you feel about it. I'm a busy guy so I don't get to play on message boards much. But I'm a long time reader. Posting is a time suck.

You're on the same island that you've always been on trying to convince folks the rivalry doesn't matter. 90% of your posts are about the rivalry and you chose Kentuckys AD for your avatar. Either that or you two are twins. Rivalries keep sports strong and fun. Embrace it.

Anything I post on LPT is a dig at your fanbase and to marginalize you as a "rival". All due to a fundamental lack of respect and indifference. My avatar and anything I post is simply to make you look bad and to poke fun. I have no real issue with Brainfart, your coaches, and your players. It's about the slappy fanbase and my entertainment.

The problem with some U of L fans who hang onto the "rivalry" is that they can't argue with the logic. No U of L fans respect LPT and few try to identify any NET benefit to scheduling slapd!cks. It's the old will-never-change argument that some guy may have once said about Texas and A&M or Nebraska and Oklahoma. Both are/were huge rivalries.

I'm 100% convinced that Jurich won't do something in the long term that doesn't benefit him. He just needs that convincing. Slapd!cks in KFC Yum! and PJCS have to grate on him. A few backward-thinking fans here won't matter. U of L is bigger than an old local rivalry that means little anymore except the LPT basketball team that needs decent teams to play. (U of L doesn't.)

UL is 100% UK's super bowl year in and year out. Not only for the fan base and players but also for the coach. They do not have the same caliber of opponents that we have during conference so any team they play out of conference is a super bowl to them. While most teams are trying to use early games as a learning tools to get ready for conference play (mich st, Louisville, UNC)the cayuts don't have to learn anything early on cause of that atrocious , embarrassing conference they play in.

Think of it this way if Louisville loses to Uk so what. They will make it up or at least can in conference against duke, unc , Virginia , Norte dame, Syracuse etc.... if Uk loses to Louisville and or mich state they are automatically down to a 2 or 3 seed and that's if they beat everyone in their weak conference.

It goes the old saying. UL is the one that gets nothing out of playing UK because of our jauggernaut conference. UK gets everything out of playing us and anyone else they play out of conference because of their joke of a basketball conference.

It's hilarious to me when I hear a Uk fan say ,"we gain nothing from playing UL". In reality they have everything to gain since they play a very limited amount of decent basketball teams the whole season. ( maybe three or four ) its ignorance in its purist form or delusion. In reality UL doesn't really gain anything from playing UK since we play in the ACC

This is 100% correct--couldn't have summarized it better. Even their OOC overall is pretty sucky. Sure, they'll talk about Louisville, Carolina, and Kansas. But they look past schools like Canisius, Duquesne, Cleveland State, UT Martin, and Valpo. And then they play schools of that caliber again in-conference. Selling season tix there has to be a job worth more than it pays.

Louisville is annually one of the top 2-3 teams they play by season's end. While we play in the ACC, they need us on their schedule a helluva lot more than we need them. Our Super Bowl status with them is not at any risk whatsoever.

It's a good game but UNC, UCLA and Kansas are obviously much bigger fish.

If records were reversed in the series specifically the last few years this wouldn't even be a discussion on this board. Most of the posters here realize that the other portion don't want to go against zipp.

If we had no success outside of our annual game I would understand wanting to drop it BUT we're talking about two of the more successful basketball programs in the nation matching up every year around the same time and ONLY because you haven't had as much success lately you want to cancel the series? That's hogwash and you know it. It's for the fans in this state.

I understand how slappies can't ever get too far past basketball, but the issue has nothing to do with series records. I've been proclaiming that U of L should drop LPT in all sports including those like football and baseball where we have--and will likely continue to have--the upper hand. And it's simple logic...LPT gets more out of just about every competition than we do. You don't or shouldn't do things with asymmetric outcomes, more lost than gained.

And the reason that slapd!cks don't "go against" me is because they can't for the most part. I have rational discussions with a few exceptions like John KBA. But most of your kind are not worthy of the challenge. So you stay away, which is kinda what I want anyway. But don't think it's because this is a refuge of sorts for me. The mods and other posters let LPT fans go at me pretty hard because I deserve it. It's just that damn few have any success.

--The series record in football is pretty evenly split last time I looked at the numbers.

--not just Louisville I want to play all the best teams not because we will always win but because I love college basketball and that's what fans of the game like. I love basketball in general not just Kentucky basketball. Same for football. I like watching the teams with numbers beside their name play. I was 99.9% sure we would lose to UL in football but that's why rivalry games are great because anything can happen.

Just to clarify......I do NOT want to drop it. I just said that UK benefits more because of their conference. The game is entertaining, even though UofL usually loses. Its always a good game though.

I will agree that we benefit more by playing Louisville than you guys benefit by playing us. But it isn't like we don't try to play a tough slate of games in the OOC to make up for a weaker SEC half of the schedule.

Zipp, Valpo received votes for the top 25 the week of our game against them.

First, games played 50 years ago don't matter to many people besides LPT fans.

Uncle Adolph and his successor, Joe B., were never in favor of playing U of L because they saw the same asymmetric outcome. Only after U of L won an NCAA championship and everyone else viewed the programs as on equal footing did a regular series begin. Even then, U of L was still deriving more of the benefits while playing in conferences like the Metro and CUSA.

But times were changing, and U of L was headed where it is today in the ACC. At the same time, SEC basketball has declined significantly to the point that it's largely midmajor except for LPT. U of L is one of a handful of teams that stand out on LPT's schedule. And I'm not that sure what LPT basketball has going for it in the SEC except for Pitino Lite, and he ain't coaching there forever.

Not playing LPT home-and-away anymore would be the same reason U of L doesn't play other State schools home and away. Asymmetric outcomes. U of L was headed in a long positive direction 30 years ago which is why the two schools have been playing. Now, U of L is heading AWAY from LPT across the major sports which is the reason that the various series should be discontinued or at least questioned.

I always thought most UL fans ignored you. Like we do with Grover and a few other posters who are out there.

I don't think you guys are leaving us in terms of basketball. Conference affiliation ultimately doesn't matter that much if both teams are having rather equal postseason success lately

Putting my blue shades on I'm hoping the win in football this year will accelerate our rebuild to where we can make the series fun and competitive

From a scheduling standpoint, your biggest problem is we don't need a stronger schedule anymore except maybe in football. And you don't help our schedule in football. Hoping for a "rebuilt" football team is the same hope we annually hear from LPT fans. And why is it any different now?
