Uconn has been one fortunate program with their 5 titles. The 2014 title over UK is complete good luck. They had to beat a 8 seeded UK team instead of Louisville who had beaten them 3 times that season.
Their coach was so undeserving he was fired a few years after. All Louisville fans know that should have been back to back titles for Louisville but for the horrid officiating at the end of the UK game. Would of been vacated anyway of course.
And then this season Uconn took advantage of the college game being down due to several factors. Don't see any sure thing NBA player on their team. Their run of opponents in the tournament has to be the least impressive there's ever been in the 64 team tournament history.
They did win those games convincingly though and they deserve their title. It just shows how far the college game has fallen when a Uconn team that would normally not even make the final 4, wins the tournament rather easily.
That's a helluva team. Great teamwork and discipline. Guys understand their roles and the importance of adhering to them.I think you're really selling Uconn short. They were solid top to bottom and I think they were the best team in this tournament. Just because there were a lot of upsets doesn't mean it was a weak tournament..
Hey we all know we have 3..UConn has reached 5 titles in under 25 years. Most titles since the tournament expanded to 64 teams. Unheard of how they catch fire during tournament time. Keep it up and they could pass UCLA some day.
Their titles under Calhoun are legit. They were a juggernaut for awhile there. It's their last two titles that I was referring to. They were damn fortunate in both. Having to beat high seeds in the final 4.I think you're really selling Uconn short. They were solid top to bottom and I think they were the best team in this tournament. Just because there were a lot of upsets doesn't mean it was a weak tournament..
They are actually counting the 2013 title but not the 1980 one because this graphic was for championships won after the Tournament was expanded to 64 teams in 1985.Hey we all know we have 3..
They blew out Gonzaga in the sweet 16And then there's this seasons title win. Had to beat two high seeds in the final 4. No Kansas, no Gonzaga, no UCLA, no Houston. Instead it was Miami, San Diego State or Florida Atlantic.
They were definitely better than every team they played in the tournament. They just didn't play the best teams to win it. Congrats to them and their good fortune.
Nice catch. Like I said though, Uconn got to the final 4 and didn't have to face a top 3 seed. It has to be the easiest final 4 run in college hoops historyThey blew out Gonzaga in the sweet 16
And you're right, but they beat the teams that beat the teamsNice catch. Like I said though, Uconn got to the final 4 and didn't have to face a top 3 seed. It has to be the easiest final 4 run in college hoops history
