Hindsight is 20/20, but you have to wonder if the defense would be better had these transfers not come to UofL. It seems like an inordinate amount of "lazy" plays can be attached to the 3 high profile transfers. What is the deal with them? Are they "me" first guys? Do they already have their eye on the NFL? Is it a culture change from the Strong holdovers?

Maybe a little too early for judgment, but a lot of reasons for transfers. Hope these turn out ok.

That play is so lame for the "all big 12" whatever the hell he was. Maybe he can take his TCU highlights to the NFL after this season. Obviously Young looked like the all American today.

I'm wondering if some of these transfers come in with a sense of entitlement based on the status of the programs they came from? Maybe thinking they will easily be impact players at a Louisville program without having to put forth too much work or effort. I've never perceived Petrino as allowing any sense of entitlement or favoritism in the past. Dyer was a good example of a guy who had to earn his carries under Petrino. And often, he didn't.

#92 Devonte Fields gave up on this play. He had a chance to tackle Dalvin Cook, but gave up on the play.. EMBARRASSING!!!!
I have watched Fields very closely since game #1 and he gives up after about 2 seconds on most plays. He does not have a quick jump when the ball is hiked and is not strong for a big guy. He actually appears out of shape and maybe has an attitude issue. He is a big nothing for our defense and I believe he shouldn't be on the field. He does very little for us in a positive light. I am very disappointed in his performance.

It is not going to be a fun day in the film room for the defense. Here the thing with the defense they played great for 90 percent of the plays. The problem is when players take plays off or make mistakes against good teams with great speed make you pay in a hurry.

Mauldin > Fields
Sample > Harvey-Clemons
Gaines > Wiggins
Holliman > Williams

We were all hoping these guys would fill those shoes pretty comfortably but they haven't even come close.

Mauldin and Sample were all heart and great tacklers. Gaines was always willing to do whatever to help the team and Holliman was a student of the game and a crafty ball-hawking Free Safety.

The other 4 are inconsistent with both effort and discipline.

And it is not even close...you can also add Mount...very underrated pass rusher now on Injured Reserve for the a Titans...was getting clock before he tore his ACL.

You would think that a guy like Fields would try to repay the coaches here with all out effort for giving him a nice landing spot in a successful program when most FBS coaches wanted nothing to do with him. I guess not.

To me that says a lot about his character or should I say the lack of.

This issue was the biggest take away for me after the game. They need to get with it, or play the guys waiting behind them.
