Time to figure out this contingency plan.

Let's face it. The chance of Mitchell coming back gets slimmer and slimmer each day by what Pitino is saying. Telling us they are trying to figure out a transfer plan only makes you believe that Mitchell is gone and Pitino knows it.

And not meaning that Mitchell has told him, but because Mitchell doesnt have to tell him he's gone. It's pretty much common sense at this point.

Unless Mitchell does awful in the combine, he's gone.

And I think that's why Pitino keeps up with this contingency plan.

So, I wonder who the plan is to be the 5th year transfer.

And, assuming Mitchell does leave, does King move to SG and Adel stay the SF since Adel is better inside than King is?

Seems like King at SG is a good fit.

I felt that way from day one after seeing him play. He looks more like a 2G than a SF to me.
Not sure about that. At the 2, you have to have a handle like Rozier. I didn't see that from King. Plus he would likely have to guard a much quicker player too. Don't see that either. Of course, we didn't see much of King at all. Hope he proves me wrong.

He never really got the chance to show off that skill set. I think he might get a shot at it though, because like the OP stated, it's looking more and more likely DM stays in the draft.

I didn't see anything from King that suggests he can play on smaller, quicker players. If anything, he's a liability at the three. More practice and development are hopefully what can change that...

I agree that we didn't see a lot of what King can do last season. However, the things I did see don't seem to suggest he has the handles or quickness to be the primary SG either. If it comes to that then I'd love to be wrong because he has a knack for scoring. Don't know if I'd feel comfortable with the ball in his hands as much as it would be with him as SG though. Handles would need much improvement.

I dont think it's about seeing anything from it. It's almost what has to happen. I mean, who would you choose at the 2 and the 3? I would say King 2, Adel 3 all day.

Maybe Pitino's plan if Mitchell leaves is to pick up a good shooting guard

Word on the street is that a fifth year prep player who is a 2G will reclassify
and sign with UofL.

Should be a nice addition, however Adel/VJ should start at the 2/3

If VJ does end up at the 2 I could see him improving his handles enough to become a serviceable option. He's got plenty of time, and that is a marketable technique. A guy like VJ being able to dribble and pass well in addition to his scoring abilities would be a NBA GM's dream. The defense is something that you can't improve on other than knowledge. Quickness and length are things you can't teach. If he learns the system more he could be a better defender next year.

We have a verbal from PG Courtney Ramey but he's in the 2018 class. Sutton is a transfer who will be playing this fall, and I think he's a combo guard.

Yeah but there's someone else apparently to take place of Mitchell, IF Mitchell leaves, that is a prep student now. So he'd come in as a freshman just like the other recruits we have. Just wish we knew who it was
