This was 10 times worse. Defending Champions number one seed. No Gorgui, Chane, or
Kevin. Cards rollin' then Luke gets two first half fouls like a many of Cards players have.

2004
Two, blown 16 point leads. Final possession, TRIPLE TEAMING Azibuike , leaving patty
shuffles wide open.

1985

The eventual Champions lost in COuppT by 5. Herb gets two quick fouls, has to sit.
Wanted a rematch so bad, yet once again , SuCkS blew a potential matchup.

1987

The tip in game.
Cards storm back from double digit halftime to take the lead, only to lose on a
last second tip-in by cedric jenkins. His only FG. Cards lose battle of the boards 37-36.

When everyone knows that Pitino's defensive game plan is to force the refs to call fouls, why is a player picking up 2 first half fouls surprising?

When Pitino was at UK, we often had 3 players with 2 fouls in the first half.... I remember he used to get upset if we didnt pick up a few fouls because he felt that was a sign players weren't playing hard.

2014 was the most frustrating by far because it was in the NCAA tournament. Louisville was the better team. They didn't get any calls that entire game and faltered down the stretch.

I think you guys were actually a 4 seed in 2014, Kerry. I know UK was an 8 and they took care of #1 Wichita St. in the 2nd round.

I think everyone in both fanbases complained on selection Sunday about UK and U of L being seeded too low, and both fanbases were right. I'm still not sure how UK won that game - even as a UK fan I can admit we got a very favorable whistle that day.

Yes, we were a 4 seed and that was by far the most frustrating loss against UK. Not only was the Cards the better team, they showed it for most of the game. They were the defending champions and after beating UK, a repeat was in the Cards. Pun intended.

Not only were Hancock's fouls BS, the last 4 four minutes of the game were totally twilight zone stuff. I told friends while watching the game it was like a movie script about how a team doesn't win back to back titles. That loss became even more painful when it was Uconn who ended winning the title. A team the Cards whooped three times that season, once by 30 points.

I have always watched the NCAA tourney since 1979 even after the Cards were eliminated or not in the tournament. I love college basketball. However, after that sweet 16 loss to UK, I didn't watch another second of the tournament. I was so pissed not just because the Cards lost but I was convinced UK was going to win the damn thing as a 8 seed. A back to back was not to be because of our hated rival. I still believe had the Cards won that game they would have repeated as national champs. I bet the Uconn coaches and the players were thrilled it was not Louisville they had to play.

Bwahaha, dude you are killing me. Do you actually think any of the Card fans believe you are a UK fan? Thats an insult to anyones intelligence, but don't let me rain on your parade because it is seriously funny.

Ah yes, I remember the first potential matchup.
Joe B and the boys choked big time on Middle Tennessee in 1982 or we would have won back to back dream games. With Louisville having a first round bye and laying in wait for UK it had to go down as one of the biggest gag-jobs ever.

While UK would have been a speed bump for the Cards that year, their performance against Middle was pitiful. If I remember correctly, they only scored 42 points in the game and then Louisville blew MTSU out on their way to another Final Four.

We can take a poll of the UofL fans though if you'd like. I've been a UK fan since I moved to Lexington in 1996. Maybe the fact that I didn't grow up in Kentucky precludes me from some of the ingrained hatred that permeates the 2 fanbases, so I am able to view things with less emotion than most.

I know I used some big words there bloodguard - dictionary.com is your friend.

Nobody could guard Luke that day.Perhaps in the midst of a career day,he got iced by that second foul.Possibly back to backs if not for that.

Probably the most heartbreaking loss I remember was the year that Sosa I believe hit that bank in 3 pointer to beat us at the buzzer. I remember the Cedric Jenkins tip in as a boy and that was a good one to.

It wasn't a bank in 3 pointer. He just shot it from about 25 feet straight out in front of the goal. It wasn't a pure shot but it didn't bank in. It caught the back of the rim and went down.

The Jenkins tip stung a lot but it's not the most painful for me. The one loss that still bugs the crap out of me more than any is the Rex Chapman show in Freedom Hall. He was supposed to play for the Cardinals. Gave his verbal to Denny Crum one day then signed with Eddie Sutton the next day. His performance that day in Freedom Hall was like being stabbed with a ice pick over and over and over again with each long jump shot he sank. I was pissed for months.

That Rex Chapman performance was one of the best of any player I've seen against Louisville. I could see that one hurting because it sure would have been the same way for us had he played for you guys lol.

We def pulled the tournament game out of our asses. You guys jumped out to a big lead, we got close at halftime, then we would tie it up and you guys would go on a run. You were up 7 with just a few minutes to play. Free throws in the first half is why you lost. Russ was shimmying at the line.

Had Russ not "shimmied" during late stage tourney time two years in a row, his jersey would be hanging in the Yum rafters. In a "just" world, lol, Russ would have led us to back-to-back NC's.

Missing close shots and free throws has cost big games and 2 so far this year. It likely cost us 2 more final fours and another national championship. Anyway, time offline can be very productive.

What changed the 2014 sweet sixteen game was when James Young fouled out CAL then put Poythress on Hancock.

Hancock was schooling the freshman Young, but Poythress is a much better defender and completely shut him down the final 6 min.

Is that you, Muscle?? Ha ha, how's life as a new person?

Watching the bowl games today?? Looks like the state has another reason to be proud. Western sure delivered. I bet you really, really want the Cards to come through as well, doncha?

Maybe not overall but recently yes. Why? Because this is not a UK typical team they have had in the past with Cauley-steins, Towns, Davis, Cousins in the middle. Yes they have height and length but not as intimidating. Also in the past few years they have had much bigger guards and able to take us to the rim. Plus I guess I bought into the team chemistry and best talent that Rick has had in a while. End result - same old story. Hell yes I'm frustrated.. I wouldn't be a Cardinal if I wasn't.
