and they and their management team have the perfect UofL storm to feed them.

Just follow the $$.

What radio show, broadcast here in town, has the highest ratings statewide? Matty Bangs. So there is no downside for Underdawgs. They can continuously spout that they support the "University" but not Ramsey, Jurich, Pitino and that narrative can and will be supported by many.

WHAS's biggest client? UK. Outside of our city, there is very little support for the University of Louisville in this state. UofL is damaged goods...for now. Therefore, ratings are most likely up outside of city and these clowns can harp on it over and over, feeding the flame with a safety net of UK sponsors to support them.

Jurich is considered a media "thug" by many local media members, I spoke with one just recently who confirmed what we've all heard for years. For now, anyway, they get to press their point endlessly with very little rebuttal, after-all, they have the mic & management support too.

The upside of 93.9 is palpable, but only on a local level and their rating are hardly measurable at this time. As they (93.9) grow and become more of a threat to WHAS/790, at least locally, it becomes more of a $$ and ratings issue. Eventually, more UofL sponsors sign on and away from WHAS & 790 including the University itself. Therefore, WHAS turns even more BLUE if that's even possible. IMO, they (WHAS,790) have drawn a line in the sand using this debacle as the catalyst to push their agenda and knowing all along that there is no going back.

If CRP resigns or not, who really knows what happens to the program for the next couple years? We may take several steps backwards for a long time, maybe not, but very, very possible. WHAS hedges their bet and goes full on BLUE knowing that Ramsey, Jurich, Pitino may never climb back on board with them. Throw in the trash that is our local news paper and we are fighting media on all flanks, yes, even more so than before.

For the record, I don't blame BBN and their fans at all. It's just business...or not...

Off soapbox for now.

Go Cards!

I am proud to say that I have graduated from the 6th grade recently and have outgrown the Afternoon Underdogs but could you elaborate Beak on what you heard on there? Thanks

Vanetti is a complete hack - always has been - even when playing the part of a supporter of Louisville and has been led around by his nose by Matt Jones for years. That show has been circling the bowl for quite a while and both he and Jennings know it. Their only chance to be semi-relevant is to take the contrary position.

It's either make this work or its back to talking over classic rock songs for Va-nuisance and Jennings will have to sell boner pills full time for body shapes md.

I swear a few years ago I used to listen to Vanetti and Jennings because there was not much else on but then I switched to 680 and started listening to Jason Anderson and lately Ramsey and Rutherford on 93.9. Not long ago for whatever reason I switched it to the Underdogs and couldn't believe how stupid that show is and wondered how in the hell I ever listened to it for 30 seconds.

To each his own but how anyone over the age of 16 or possessing an IQ above 70 could listen to that show is hard to figure.

But, but, but - Hater Tyrone is on that show! That's when you know it's a quality program...

I stopped listening once 93.9 started up.
Same. I haven't listened to 5 minutes of that show since the Ramsey (and now Ramesy and Rutherford) show started. I mainly listened to Anderson before but would flip to the underdogs sometimes but no more. R&R is the perfect Louisville show. The dogs are a joke.

Whether you are Red or Blue, the best on Sports Radio in Louisville in my opinion is Jayson Anderson on 680. I have started listening to 93.9 on the way home from work and like Ramsey/Rutherford. I used to like Dave Jennings when he would fill in for Lach on WHAS but since has hooked up with douce bag Vanetti on the Underdawgs, he sucks as bad as Vanetti. That douce bag may very well be the least sports educated person I have ever heard on a Sports Radio program anywhere in the country. He is a first class clueless jack ass on the radio and on TV. Their show is very sophomoric and made for kids under the age of 16..

There is no way I could begin to post accurately about what I've heard over the last 100 hrs. of radio over the last few weeks. Can't type or see the keyboard well enough. I travel a lot, can't get the best reception out there, but I'm a big tone type person. I can tell you I heard it day one. It was confirmed to me by a local radio sports guy.Their tone has changed 100%. The Dogs have turned.

That's great and I agree. However, I'm talking ratings and $$. Not your or my personal favorite.

Used to like Vanetti but he's lost it. Have come to wretch when Jennings speaks, his constant puns are like a pre-adolescent school kid and when he does get away from that he's all preachy and his tone is that "I know all and you, the audience, can't understand anything unless I explain it to you". Have switched to 93.9 and really like Mike Rutherford but Ramsey's constant kiss up style is a little hard to take as well. Not sure he's had an original thought in years. Pickin's are slim on local radio.

they are definitely the becoming the show with the least substance. too much advertising and vannetti seems a little too concerned about being PC with this whole katina powell thing.. totally weak how quickly they folded

everyone piled on C. Jones when his stuff came out and look what happened.. cool heads will prevail here.. pitino isn't going anywhere.

I have not made a post for quite a while. I'm glad this thread has been started and it has spurred me to make a comment. I agree with a lot of the posts and the criticism of Vanetti.

Vanetti is disk jockey, businessman, opportunist, and gossip show leader. He lacks in sports knowledge. He is stirring the pot and encouraging any caller to express their feelings about what is going on whether they are based on facts or not. Yes, I understand that his show is the 2nd leading sports show in ratings - after Matt Jones. Maybe it's due to his play to the U of K fans in Louisville?

Vanetti has been business savvy to survive changes in radio, yet I've lost respect for him. I happened to see Vanetti on Matt Jones' show before. They have a lot in common - their greatest interest is in ratings. I find it interesting that Jones was very critical of Calipari while he was at Memphis, but no mention of it now. Ironic that Matt Jones also is a Duke Law School grad - the "enemy" of BBN.

I agree that Jayson Anderson is much more knowledgeable about this issues and I always enjoy Will Perdue's comments.

Yes, Ramsey and Rutherford is far and away the best show on the radio. They tell it like it is instead of trying to take us down like the Underscum and other pitiful radio in this town. Ramsey and Rutherford are legit. Best show going on the radio right now. If you want to hear the truth with no sugar coating or just don't want to hear someone rip apart UofL, then try out Ramsey and Rutherford. Awesome show.
