and they and their management team have the perfect UofL storm to feed them.
Just follow the $$.
What radio show, broadcast here in town, has the highest ratings statewide? Matty Bangs. So there is no downside for Underdawgs. They can continuously spout that they support the "University" but not Ramsey, Jurich, Pitino and that narrative can and will be supported by many.
WHAS's biggest client? UK. Outside of our city, there is very little support for the University of Louisville in this state. UofL is damaged goods...for now. Therefore, ratings are most likely up outside of city and these clowns can harp on it over and over, feeding the flame with a safety net of UK sponsors to support them.
Jurich is considered a media "thug" by many local media members, I spoke with one just recently who confirmed what we've all heard for years. For now, anyway, they get to press their point endlessly with very little rebuttal, after-all, they have the mic & management support too.
The upside of 93.9 is palpable, but only on a local level and their rating are hardly measurable at this time. As they (93.9) grow and become more of a threat to WHAS/790, at least locally, it becomes more of a $$ and ratings issue. Eventually, more UofL sponsors sign on and away from WHAS & 790 including the University itself. Therefore, WHAS turns even more BLUE if that's even possible. IMO, they (WHAS,790) have drawn a line in the sand using this debacle as the catalyst to push their agenda and knowing all along that there is no going back.
If CRP resigns or not, who really knows what happens to the program for the next couple years? We may take several steps backwards for a long time, maybe not, but very, very possible. WHAS hedges their bet and goes full on BLUE knowing that Ramsey, Jurich, Pitino may never climb back on board with them. Throw in the trash that is our local news paper and we are fighting media on all flanks, yes, even more so than before.
For the record, I don't blame BBN and their fans at all. It's just business...or not...
Off soapbox for now.
