The Cards have to play much better against a much better team Saturday in order to keep this season going in a positive direction. Virginia is very strong so in order to compete, the Cards have to play strong too.

IF the Cards can pull off the upset, it will put the recent struggles in the rearview mirror. Struggle on Saturday and doubt will continue to creep in.

I like the optimism some of you have about the UVA game. I tend to be a positive outlook person too. But I just can't get myself to truly believe the Cards will beat a very good UVA team on Saturday right now.

I just think it will be another game where the team will be outclassed. Hopefully they don't get blown out two games in a row because I'm not sure if they can handle that at this point.

But I would love to be proven wrong. In fact if the Cards beat Virginia Saturday I'll gladly make a thread eating crow and saying I was wrong.

I hope we win, but I’ve watched UVa play several times this year, and they’re solid in all positions. Guy can light you up from 3 as we know, Jerome can hit outside shots as well, and is a great passer, Hunter is their best player-combo forward that shoots the 3 insanely well too, but also can drive on you, and their front court with Diakite and Salt is extremely formidable. Probably going to be one of the toughest games of the year.

Yes, I agree it will be very difficult to win, I'm just looking for the toughness to return. Ever since the Duke meltdown, this team hasn't been very confident or strong. We got to recaputre some of the first 30 minutes of the Duke game attitude to compete Saturday.

Play strong. Play tough and unafraid. Play with purpose, determination, and with a bit of anger. I don't want them to play dirty but I don't want to see them allow anyone to push them around like that skinny white kid did the last game. That has to stop.

The key is to turn that 30 minutes into 40 minutes.

I actually like our chances better at home against Virginia than I did against Syracuse. We were never comfortable trying to attack that Syracuse zone last night, but Mack and his players understand Virginia’s defense and how it should be attacked. I expect a much better offensive performance against Virginia.

Op.redemption for the Duke game. I had a cruddy feeling about last night.
Not so much about Saturday. We have a chance if that crowd is electric again.

UVA one of the top offensive and defensive teams this year. Cards have their hands full tomorrow to say the least.

Cards shot 14-54/26% from the field and 21% from 3 against Syracuse. I have a hard time believing they have another poor shooting (some were due to just poor shot selection) performance like that 2 games in row... even with UVA’s high performing defense. Better shooting alone will not be enough though so they will have to be locked in defensively.

I like this matchup tomorrow. I may be way off but I think the Cards play at a high level. It may still not be enough but I like our chances at home.

We can lose to UVA twice, beat BC and ND and still be a 6-7 seed. Beat UVA once in addition to those 2 and we’re back to a 4-5. Lose both UVA and one other and we’re down to 8-9 range. Lose em all and we’re in play in stages.

So, it’s important yes, but it’s a bonus really. Need to take care of BC and ND to stay above an 8.

The last 2 games + the final 8 min vs Duke were tough on the players, coaches, and fans. We can credit the opponents for sure, but the Cards haven't looked too good in that span.

I can't go into tomorrow expecting a win, but there are some guys slumping and just not playing as well as you'd like to see this time of year. I wonder if the tight rotation could mean a few guys are wearing down.

Every team that is OK hits periods in the season where they just aren't playing well. That is why the FSU and Duke games where a back breaker. They played good enough to win both but gave them both away.

Virginia is another game like Duke, if Virginia plays well Louisville will not win. If Virginia plays OK and Louisville plays good they have a 50/50 shot.

This team could lose to BC too. Their margin for error is very small.

I think the Cards need to score 75+ to win. If this game is in the 50's or 60's, it favors UVA.

UVA plays the same type of line defense the Cards play. The outside shot will only be there if we can get some inside outside action. I think Enoch has a monster game today. This is a big stage game, and he seems to play better on the big stage.

Yeah, I do think Enoch plays a key role today. UVA likes to double down and they hedge really hard out top. One big concern is our bigs tend to not pass the ball back out well (could say this about several players on the team).

I think Mack may be able to take advantage of the hedging and packing the lane inside. UVA will give up some shots today outside. We have to pass the ball well and make them.
