The In-Stadium Experience

I've done all the griping I can do regarding the game itself. So I will now move on to griping about the in-stadium experience:

- this may be revisionist history but it seems like last year UofL made an effort to reduce some of the stupid ass promotions and commercials throughout the game. Well it seems like the school reverted back to their overly-commercialized ways. The only thing missing was the human hamster balls to take us back 5 years. When it seemed like people were about to get pumped up, we were then subjected to the smile cam, the kiss cam, the name that tune cam, the ACC highlight reel that had one highlight from a lopsided game.

- the band tried to introduce two new cheers. First of all shouldn't the CHEERleaders introduce new cheers? Seems like they could coordinate with the band and perhaps make some signs and then perhaps actually do some cheers. Along that same line, once upon a time the cheerleaders actually had a good thing going when they did the "GO CARDS" cheer where each side of the stadium would alternate the Go and the Cards. What happened to that? I swear they should not call them cheerleaders, they should be referred to as a tumbling squad. Nothing says esprit de corps and tradition like some dude throwing a girl 30 feet in the air.

- the intro. Every song they played in the intro was great. The problem was that there were about 18 different songs mixed in. Much like our offense, it lacked focus and was all over the board. Play one or at most two songs.

- Noon kickoffs. I realize that TV dictates the kick times, but do we really have to let Fox Sports South dictate when the kickoff is? The noon kickoffs are horrid. The only person who likes the noon kickoff is my wife so she knows that I will be home before dark and that she can command a few hours of manual labor out of me before the sun sets.

I feel much better now.

The noon kickoffs are horrid. Outdoor manual labor duties are for the responsible husband. That is not woman's work. The Cardinal should parachute into Papa John's to create excitement.

The NFL is very similar to PJCS. the in stadium experience to me is becoming less fun, because of all the crap the bring in. Like a minor league baseball game.

The band, on at least two occasions, was playing when suddenly DROWNED out by the PA's rap music. Why have them there? We could get paid to let the Dean's Milk cow sing the National Anthem. Or, heaven forbid, Papa John.

IF the is an event coordinator, and apparently there isn't, they should be fired.

It's a chicken or the egg situation. UofL has to give the fans a reason to stay in their seats instead of going to a commercial type promotions. There is not one thing in the Houston game during a dead ball that drew my attention and I don't drink or visit the concessions. The announcers and music is so loud you can't hear the person next to you. So everyone is forced to watch the commercials.

UofL couldn't care less about your game experience. It's about raising money and keeping the whales happy. They already have your money, and a list of fans waiting to replace your financial contribution if you leave. You are strictly a $ sign to them. They know it. That's one reason for this "Year of the Fan" crap, the other to update their donor list with potential new donor info.

This is why I don't get bent out of shape when I hear the complaints about fan participation. When the admin gets serious about developing a competitive home field advantage, then I'll expect more from the fans.

UofL couldn't care less about your game experience. It's about raising money and keeping the whales happy. They already have your money, and a list of fans waiting to replace your financial contribution if you leave. You are strictly a $ sign to them. They know it. I think I was naïve in thinking that the influx of money from joining the ACC would have allowed UofL to move away from the constant pimping of everything in the stadium.

I can tell you this, the millennial generation is not beholden to attending the games out of some badge of honor. So while UofL may think they can offer a weak experience in stadium now without attendance repercussions, don't be surprised in the next 10 years if the current 20 and 30 year old somethings decide to spend their time and money elsewhere when they become 30 and 40 year olds.

I can tell you this, the millennial generation is not beholden to attending the games out of some badge of honor. So while UofL may think they can offer a weak experience in stadium now without attendance repercussions, don't be surprised in the next 10 years if the current 20 and 30 year old somethings decide to spend their time and money elsewhere when they become 30 and 40 year olds.

AND...the TV's get bigger, with more features to offer a "close to" stadium experience.

It's been mentioned that most schools are hurting in attendance, so maybe most schools need to change their thinking. But what do I know. I'll be there for the commercials and hype.

I wouldn't blame the band if they did a group MOON to the PA next time they're cut off.

That might have been true before this season, but now in addition to all of the construction projects, the school is paying all of its student athletes a stipend. Gotta pay those bills somehow.

I plan to travel to Louisville for the Clemson Game. I'll be in my seat while the teams warm up and hate all the non-cheering noise of any kind. You should attend an Atlanta Falcons game. It is one continuous commercial. The world in changing. Always has. I can imagine what our parents thought of us "boomers".

The reason for he post is find out if there is color theme for the fans i.e. whiteout, blackout etc.?

We're doing Blackout for the game (all black uni as well, which look pretty sweet)...enjoy the trip and please excuse the commercials.

Soul the game Thursday is a Blackout. Historically Thursday night games or weeknight games are different from our Saturday games. Louder in my estimation but that may be due to caliber of opponent historically and a 7:30 start should see an earlier arriving crowd.

Not the Cardinals of AZ...great game experience...very few bells and whistles and our home record is very good (Great since Arians arrived:14-3)

I agree, no organization is going to remove revenue generators, without creating other similar revenue streams.

Another big problem facing PJCS with millennials is the weak broadband. UofL says the problem lies with the service providers and the service provides blame the facility infrastructure. Don't expect the weak internet service to improve anytime soon.

Sports facilities should not be catering to the millennials. They are not the ones with the extra money to spend on these events. It is the over 35 crowd that spends the most.

Hell, half of our fans do not even know when cheer! You should be quiet when the Cards are on offense and loud as hell when the opponent is on offense! However,we are still a basketball crowd! So learn football equate!
