That can't help Charlie but his fate will be decided on the field. Patterson apparently got run because he pissed the boosters off with some of his fundraising tactics and his attitude in general.
The big question with Strong is if he will get a third year. Since Charlie is not Nicknamed Krags he deserves that chance like any new coach who inherited a mess.

From what I understand from reading "other" boards, the sequence of future events are already in motion.
1. Tom Jurich leaves UofL for Texas.
2. Texas AD Tom Jurich fires Charlie Strong
3. Texas AD Tom Jurich hires Bobby Petrino away from UofL to replace Charlie Strong.
No sense in sweating it, the wheels are already in motion, and it's futile to resist. Only questions now are, who do we target to replace Jurich and Petrino. Since Pitino's best days are past him, think he would consider the AD position? I think it's time to go ahead and make the move to bring Richard in to replace his father as we planned all along. Think Strong would consider coming back here? Or do we just promote "3rd and Grantham" to Head Coach. Beggars can't be choosers, you know.

SMDHI've been seeing "Jurich to Texas" around on the boards as well. The only problem with that theory is, Jurich apparently already said no to Texas a couple years ago. Money can't be the issue with Jurich since Texas has all of it. I'm sure they offered him plenty. I'm also sure Texas will check in with Jurich as their first stop, but what could have changed in 2 years that'd make Jurich want to leave? It seems like just wishful thinking on Texas fans' and UK fans' part.
Watching our rivals try to cover all their trash talk bases by claiming a program with the stature of Texas would never hire someone like Tom Jurich while also claiming our AD already has one foot out the door for Austin is pretty high comedy. The mental gymnastics to try to maintain both narratives at the same time is funny to watch them navigate, it's reminiscent of the "Strong will drop UofL for the first real (SEC) program that comes calling" side-by-side with the "no real program would ever be interested in a UofL football coach" double talk. This way, they can claim "we told you so" regardless of what happens. SMH

How does one "decide to be somewhere" at the same time breaking news is announced? That would require prior knowledge that "breaking news" is "about to break".

Just don't see why Jurich would be motivated to go anyplace else. He has been here so long why start over somewhere else? Texas is already a established program so don't see what Jurich would gain being there. I can only see him leaving if he was bored and looking for new challenges. I don't think he's bored at all as UofL still hasn't won a championship in any other sport but men's basketball. The ladies hoops, the baeball and the football team are all poised to change that. Why would he want to be in Texas when the Lady Cards are cutting down the nets and the football team is in the playoff?

Wouldn't you think that potential candidates would've been reached out to before the public was made aware of the firing? I'm sure the wheels were already in motion before ESPN made a story of it. Just think Tuesday golf scrambles are a rare enough occurrence that's it weird that he'd just so happen to be at one the day news broke that he was a top candidate for the best AD job in the country thus making him unavailable for comment. Would be a heck of a coincidence that's for sure
I find it somewhat strange that there is language in Petrino's contract releasing him from a significant amount of his buyout if Jurich were to leave. Maybe it's something Petrino's agent pushed for but there must've been talks about the possibility of Jurich not being there for the life of Petrino's contract

Of course Jurich is a candidate. Any university president that does not have Jurich at the top of his/her list should be dismissed immediately for his/her incompetence. But, considering Patterson was just hired about a week and a half ago I suspect Jurich and others are thinking "whiskey - tango - foxtrot" (or words to that effect). This search may not go smoothly for Texas.
Tom is NOT leaving UofL! He had the opportunity to go to FSU back in the middle 2000's when UL was basically at that time ugly and a ghost town! He flat turned FSU down and said that he was not interested nor ever will be! He absolutely loves UofL, he loves his job, and he adores what he has accomplished here! TIFWIW!!

Relax card fans. Jurich isn't going anywhere. He has family roots and he won't want the headache of answering to extremely wealthy and powerful boosters in Texas. He has it made at ul He's 59 and won't want that big of a challenge not to mention he's grooming his son as his successor. I'm not saying he will coast into retirement but I don't think he wants to tackle that big of a job at this point. If he were 10 years younger, who knows? I'm sure he will get a nice little bump in pay after this. As much as I despise him he's done a great job at ul. He's been instrumental to the success at ul. With that being said I wouldn't want him as my AD.

Texas interim athletic director Mike Perrin was introduced today by the UT president. Perrin signed a 1 year contract. This process won't be over any time soon, probably not until around spring time of next year.

Jurich's silence on the matter probably means that he's going to go through the hiring process with Texas. If he's all Louisville you'd think he would have made a statement by now that he's not interested
LoL! You can't make a statement about something that hasn't occurred. They just named an interim AD; There is currently no hiring process in progress, only media speculation regarding who they may target. But feel free to keep hope alive.
