This UofL team appears to play its best basketball in the second half. That will be great IF they can improve well enough to play at a high level during the 'down' moments in the first half of games as the season progresses. I was looking closer at the schedule, and damn if we don't have some really difficult road games to play this year. Playing 20 of 40 minutes on the road will spell disaster in the ACC. @Clemson, @FSU, @Notre Dame, @Miami, @Virginia, @Pitt, @Duke, @Virginia Tech, @NCState. Yikes!!

All 9 of the ACC road games will demand 40 minutes of high level college basketball to win. With that stated, 40 minutes of perfect basketball with the opponent not playing as well as they can is the only way the Cards win @FSU, @Notre Dame, @Miami, @Virginia, and @Duke. From what I've seen thus far, a 4-5 road record in the ACC is about as good as it's going to get. I see no way the Cards can beat top 20 caliber teams on the road as of today. Hopefully they continue to grow and learn. This team has the talent to have a special season. It also has the chance to implode.

I would say this is a pretty accurate assessment as of tonight. But they are improving and given the situation it may take a little longer, but they are moving forward. I think they will be a very good team come March

I think part of the reason for this is that the effectiveness of our scouting has decreased. Pitino placed a ton of emphasis on scouting the opponent - at least thus far the team doesn’t look like they either have a good idea of what the opponent is trying to do or, a good plan to stop it.

I’m with Cue though, playing only 20 minutes in the ACC is asking for an ass kicking.

That's a good point about scouting. It sure appears like the kids are either completely clueless about the opponents strengths or weaknesses, or they have a low basketball IQ. With that stated, I do like the halftime adjustments coach Padgett is making. Maybe that's another reason for the better second half play? IDK. All I know for sure is it looks like they play better after the first 20 minutes are in the books. We need to improve the first 20 minutes of play to win in this league. The ACC is going to be brutal, again.

Absolutely love the new guys, Perry is my favorite player by far. Padgett would have never recruited a creampuff like Mahmoud. Love Nwora, love the transfer kid Sutton. We need rebounders and garbage men-shooters we have in abundance. Padgett will get us some of those, I guarantee it.
