I think this kid is going to help us next year, having sat out this year many fans have forgotten he's on the way. I think he will contribute.

Guilty as charged. I completely forgot about this young man.

Former Manual High star guard Dwayne Sutton is heading home.

The 6-foot-5 freshman, who transferred from UNC Asheville, committed to Louisville on Friday evening, accepting a spot on the roster as a preferred walk-on. He will have to sit out the 2016-17 season, but he still has three years of college eligibility remaining.

"I feel like Louisville is the place for me to be," Sutton said. "I was told that there's no difference between a scholarship player and a preferred walk-on. ... (U of L coach Rick Pitino) watched my film and really wanted me. I'm just going to do what I do and work hard every day."

Word is he played well in practice and has a super high motor. With a year of the system under his belt I like his chances to steal 5-15 minutes a game. Which is not what this kid came here for, he came here to play. I love the hometown kids and wish him well.

Will bring that animal hungry type play which was totally lacking on this years team. Somebody with a BB mentality not a polished skill offensive guy but what we need a baller. Wont be scared to get out front on the press .

Wow, so Sutton is not even on scholarship next season? If so that sounds like a heck of a steal for the team. I mean I have not seen him play but he sounds like he could definitely help out.

What is the difference between a scholarship player and a preferred walk-on? Sutton seems to think they are the same, but there has to be some kind of difference.

It used to mean that your meals aren't paid for and years ago, you didn't travel on certain road trips, but I don't think that's true anymore. Also if the school had a dorm exclusive to that sport, walkons lived in regular dorms. Maybe a preferred walkon is something in between.
