They want out while they are on a winning streak. There’s no way this game gets dropped.

Beef up your non-conference schedule like the BIG boys. Never know how good you are until you play the best. And backing into a Bowl with three cupcake wins isn’t anything to be proud about. Ask IU. Even with the cupcakes they can’t win 6.

Well now that is something that cowards like UK do isn't it?

If that happens...the Keg of Nails rivalry with UC would be there for the taking. Or how about WVU? Or even Purdue? Now that would be interesting to me.

I've said for the last 2 years that I expect the UK game to end soon. Once they announced Texas and Oklahoma it started the clock on this series. I fully expect the SEC to follow suite and go divisonless soon as well and implement a 9 game conference slate.

There is ZERO chance that Stoops wants to play 9 SEC games a season and a Jeff Brohm coached UofL team in the non-conference. He knows where his bread is buttered. He's milked UK for millions by beating 3 cupcakes and Scott Satterfield and going 3-5 in the SEC.

Our current series contract runs though 2030. No clue how hard it is to get out of these contracts and I would wager every dollar to my name Jeff Brohm will demand that UofL play the game. We'll see what happens.

If you are right and it does get axed...who do you like to pickup for a rivalry game?

I guess I will throw this out there.....Why is it that everyone thinks that he will just come in and knock it out of the park? If he wasn't from Louisville would this excite everyone?

He is 36-34 at the Power 5 level, 26-25 in the Big 10's weaker division. Now I think the teams he played are better than the teams he will play in ACC but I just worry that everyone is setting this up and can he ever win to satisfy everyone?

I think it is great for football in KY, excited for our rivalry but I just worry a little. Coming home isn't always easy!

Come on Mayo - that's an easy one.

Cincinnati 😉
I know it is for me too. Just thought since you live in WV you might want WVU. ;)

Hell, I wouldn't even mind those chickens in Bloomington so you can get a BIG scalp on the resume if you can get them to play... not likely IMO

Because he played under Schnellie and he has the same vision maybe? "We are on a Collision Course with a NC, the only variable is time?" MO.

Has or would anyone ever say that about CSS? methinks not!

Gosh, thats a good point. I do live in WV and yet my immediate first thought was UC. lol

I would love to play WVU though. I really want WVU in the ACC. The only positive for me in UofL not playing WV is that I don't get shit here when I wear UofL gear. I get some ribbing and some talk of the games from years ago but nobody really bothers me. If we where in the same conference and played every year I feel like that would change. lol

That's an easy question to answer. Jeff Brohm has been successful at every turn in his career. As a OC, his offenses were near the top in scoring and yardage and when he got the WKU head job, the Hilltoppers became a offensive beast which they still are benefiting from today.

Then he gets the top gig at Purdue, a team that had lost 30 of it past 33 conference games. The numbers you cite at Purdue are far more impressive than you've giving him credit for. And he did this without hardly a 4 star recruit, and with walk ons at key offensive skill positions.

It's a no brainer that he would excel at Louisville, now how high that can be is the question. There will be some added pressure being the hometown boy but everything he needs to take the next step and become a top coach in the game is here at Louisville. Even if he didn't have Louisville connections, he would be a sought after coach that Cards fans would be excited to see.

Anything can happen in sports. There has been some really up and coming coaches everyone expected to excel at bigger gigs but only to fail. Scott Frost is a perfect example. Remember Willie Taggart? He actually was hired at Oregon and FSU and now I believe he's in C-USA or the Sun Belt.

Jeff Brohm is different. The man knows offensive football and he's proven to be loyal to his players more than most head coaches. I just don't see how he won't be hugely successful at Louisville.

I would just add this to your last sentence. If he gets a majority of support from the fans... I am finding out how fickled and even disruptive our fans can be.

That is the main issue. No matter the coach, they can sell themselves and the program but if they get off to a slow start the fans can make it nearly impossible to gain traction and get the program going in a positive direction.

They’re getting ready to be an afterthought now that we have our native son home. Bigger fish to fry.

Congrats on the hire. It’s a home run.

My best friend is a UofL alum and he’s rightfully thrilled. Should be good for you. Best coach for ya since Bobby P 1.0 You got a guy who sees this as a final destination spot. Can’t beat that.

Anyway, I don’t know where you read Cats don’t want the series anymore. Whoever said that is an idiot. These two teams should play in every sport every year and it should be mandatory. It’s fun regardless of the outcome.

I was getting ready to ask the same question …… as most UK fans look forward to this in-state rivalry as much as UL fans. I think this false narrative originated from media speculation when the SEC expands …… that is not going to happen.

Go read the Wildcat Liar on CI....that thought pops up now and again from the really immature and haters in BBN. I chuckle every time its bandied about...as if those individuals have the power to make it happen.

Their colors should be green...as in green with envy at any type of success that UofL has in any sport, etc...you all know what I mean.

2013, and the year of the Cardinal damn near killed quite a few of them and ever since...well we know what has occurred since then to UofL sports programs with Grissom and clowns as Zipp would say.

Talk bounces around every year.
SEC goes to a 9 game season one OOC game needs to go, but I would rather it be Youngstown State or Miami of Ohio.

Doesn't the SEC have a rule where every team is required to play 1 OOC game against a P5 opponent?
Yes and the SEC would never let UK drop the game with Louisville. The four SEC/ACC games are too important to both conferences. The SEC is trying to promote rivalries, not end them.

They are going to have to look at it but I don’t think they stop playing it. The reality for UK is in a tough spot. Sanky wants to get away from Divisions. That is a nightmare plus 9 game schedule is likely. They are in an arms race they can’t win.

Think about this let’s say they go with 4 annual opponents. The best case scenario is Vandy, Missouri, UT and South Carolina. Then they get 5 more games. That is absolutely brutal. Add in Louisville which is going to get better. They will be a tough game as well.

They go from 4 easy OOC games to 2. Their path to 8-9 wins is brutal.

Why would they want to drop it? They think they own us. They call us a cupcake. Have you ever known UK to pass up a good easy win? If we’re such a cupcake they would keep us forever! So….they’re just chickenshits. Own it!
