I seldom criticize the officials, and for most of this game it was called fair and objective, but there were several calls in the fourth quarter that were horrible and could have affected the outcome. In particular there were two late hits that were not flagged, one of which was reviewed for targeting; while it was correctly reviewed as not targeting, it was clearly roughing the passer. The other one was on the last UL interception, where the FSU receiver grabbed Clark after pushing him as he was about to intercept. Official was right there and never threw the flag.

The one late interference call on our corner was initiated by the intended FSU receiver, and the other interference call against us was most questionable.

Great win for Cards!

Officiating was horrible.

The review where FSU went for it on 4th down late and it was ruled the receiver was out of bounds then overturned to a catch was total BS. No way they could've been able to tell his foot was inbounds beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Horrible holding call on Bentley that negated Malik’s long TD run. The defensive tackle was blocked so well that the only thing he could do was fall down, flail his right arm, and use his left to grab Bentley’s jersey and ensure that Bentley fell down on top of him.

Come to think of it, when you know you’ve just gotten pancaked, that’s probably the smartest play you can make: look so helpless that you fool the referee into throwing a flag.

I think it can become selective enforcement. Look holding of some kind is occurring on every single play. They throw the flag when they think the hold impacts the play. The hold on Bentley happens every play. Did the hold free up Malik who knows very subjective. Then you have multiple holds on FSU that were obvious that get no flag. They tackled 97 on 1 play no flag.

Pass interference is even more ridiculous. Offensive guys can push off-grab do whatever they want but a defensive guy gets flagged for doing the same thing.

Momentum is a really thing and refs at some point start feeding the momentum by starting looking and calling things at key times. Human element.

They have to get rid of unlimited replay. I don’t mind coaches getting 3-4 challenges a game but make them manage it. It is killing the game flow.

I hope the ACC is protecting teams that are 0-3. The strength in any league is in it depth. You try to keep certain teams at the top the rest of the league won’t grow.

ACC needs programs like Louisville, Pitt, Virginia, NC State, North Carolina and Georgia Tech to be good. The SEC is perceived great because of its depth. Alabama is the class like Clemson. The difference is the rest of the ACC isn’t holding it own.

The ACC actually has some good young coaches.

Not sure that I totally agree with your comments. The ACC, or any conference, has no business "protecting" any team regardless of it's record.. With that being said I do agree that the ACC needs the Louisville's, Pitt's, UNC's, etc., to improve their brand to improve the ACC's overall brand. With Clemson's loss yesterday I'm not convinced that the ACC is making a very positive statetment. We really need to play well at WF this upcoming weekend.

GO CARDS!!!

The problem isn’t Clemson losing, the problem it is there is no one else is even considered at this point. Let’s say Wake/BC goes undefeated or NC State only has 1 loss I doubt they are going to get in.

That is the problem and quite frankly the whole problem with this system.

Officiating crew was suspect. Conspiracy theory me thinks ACC wants FSU to win. The Noles are a signature conference team. I was totally expecting a flag on that last defensive play, too. Matters not. Got the win. On to the next.
Yes they wanted it to be all about winning for Coach Bowden this year.Unfortunately for them Florida St is a dumpster fire.

That is facts.I know everyone rolled their eyes when the ACC,PAC-12, and Big ten did their hand shake deal but I think it could work out.Do you remember when Ohio State wouldn’t give us a home and home?I believe that we could get to play some new teams and get more exposure for our program if they do this right.I get why we do it but wouldn’t you rather see us play a UCLA or Northwestern rather than EKU?

The refereeing was really bad the 2nd half and it was obvious. I also agree you can call holding on every play so it is easy for a ref to be bias and get away with it. On the other subject I really like the alliance between the 3 conferences especially if they are going to expand the playoffs.

It been said numerous times on other threads but the alliance gives us voting majority over the SEC. If things were left alone the SEC would control what teams make it into the playoffs in an expanded playoff. This keeps that from happening and it also guarantees scheduling dominance over the SEC. Instead of playing good non conference games the SEC will be playing mid major programs.

I believe it’s time to do away with reviews.

Even with them, more often than not we (AND the talking heads) don’t all agree on what we see. It’s funny when the talking head expert says “they gotta overturn that one” and the ref say “play stands as called”.

BUT to not give Refs Total control of outcomes (and possibly becoming millionaires), refs would have to agree to random lie detector tests.

And do away with the ejection for targeting. That in itself can determine outcomes.

And as mentioned use the NFL model for reviews/challenges.

Well yes but I do think one game a year vs a EKU, Murray or WKU is a worthwhile goal. Help spread the wealth. WTH uahkay is playing every weak team they can get their hands on as their schedule sucks. Almost cost them last night against a weak sec USCjr.

I don't want to do away with the reviews BUT I do want to limit the time it takes to make a damn decision. The vast majority of the time a call can be made in 15 or 20 seconds of turning the replay camera on but they like the "spotlight" and you cannot convince me otherwise. And I agree with 90-95% of the ejections as the majority of these plays are football plays, not dirty play. Yes, occassionally you have a dirty play and those are very apparent - deal with those.

I'd say about 60 seconds (the time for one commercial) should be the limit.

Holding Penalties - NOTHING Annoys me more in Football then when my quarterback looses a touchdown because of holding penalty, just like yesterday - Lamar just had a touchdown erased by a holding penalty.

If the holding actually kept a defensive player from a possible tackle then it’s justified, BUT.... in most cases the actual holding penalty occurs behind the play and is really frustrating. The holding that was called during Malik’s run yesterday was BS as were several other calls in the second half that seemed to go against the cards.

Couple of related comments; while I do not believe it is premeditate, I do believe as one post suggested, the officials got caught up in the FSU momentum in the 3rd and 4th quarters and influenced a few of the no calls and incorrect penalties against the Cards. The first half was absent of any obvious flawed officiating, but after the opening FSU TD in the 2nd half ……. it was evident that judgement was affected.

Last comment ….. this agreement between the BIG, ACC and the PAC; particularly the ACC and BIG are quite intentional and purposeful, as both of these conferences place more emphasis on their commitment to academics and Title IX sports. They share the same concerns with what they are witnessing with the SEC expansion, as having a negative impact on the fragile balance with college sports. I expect their agreed union will strengthen over time.
