St.John’s

Same here. I’m watching it as well. Pitino still playing that matchup 2-3 zone switching to m-2-m.

You never have to question the effort his teams play with. It will be interesting to see if they can keep it up and pull off the upset.

They add RJ Luis tonight and UConn lost their 7-2 Center Donovan Clingan. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if StJ’s pulls the upset.

His first year with the team learning that defense. Our coach thinks that would be a trick.

People love being miserable. Watching this mess and then watching Pitinio good lord why do it to yourselves? Did you think he would lay an egg? Even if he did doesn’t matter. There is a really good possibility none of the future coaches will be as good as Pitino. A lot of people are going to miserable for a long time.

I watched it too; and I could not help but look back at the way this once proud UL community stood by while a small group of University leaders (Postel, Schnatter and Grisson) were successful removing TJ over their petty and personal differences. We now know there was insufficient evidence to remove Pitino without conducting the internal investigation that Tom requested.

It is amazing how a temporary President, and a guy with absolutely no connection to UL (prior to his Pizza parlor becoming famous), could attract the support of Grissom and his influence with the BoT members to destroy our basketball Program.

So much irony here, to see Rick coaching the St John’s basketball team last night against UConn, while we are stuck in the very bottom of college basketball. Maybe it was not a coincidence, particularly when you consider that all three (3) of the villains have no affiliation with UL now.

Not at all. I like watching sports of any flavor and that game was what interested me at that time. The fact Pitino was coaching was irrelevant. It was what looked like the best game on.
I love watching a coach that inspires a collection of athletes to play over their heads against a more talented team.
Same here. It was one of the best games on last night. I actually had this one circled to watch.

Off Topic: I watch way too much basketball. If you have not watched James Madison or FAU play this season, check them out.

I’m watching the Jonnies to see how fast Pitino has them challenging the best teams, and to see if the old boy can still compete with his younger counterparts like Hurley.

One of the biggest tragedies in college sports history was giving Jurich & Pitino their walking papers. Many of us knew that when it happened; the rest are having it proven to them.

U of L athletics will never completely recover from that crime…

Meh. Pitino stepped on his own crank, and Jurich was his collateral damage. Extramarital sex on a restaurant tabletop, then double down with strippers being paid to have sex with recruits in dorms, and then I triple dog dare you with paying for players back when that was still illegal.

And yes, UofL athletics may never recover.

If you’re going to blame somebody, at least blame everybody who screwed up. Crimes indeed.

Oh, and my wife told me I should add “Merry Christmas to you, TAFKAZ! She is right, as always.

Speaking of whom, I spotted the J-word on the in-arena advertising during a recent game in Las Vegas. Sonny boy taking his NIL/marketing game to the bigs.

What could still be here…

There’s a principle in management known as damage control. You don’t take a temporary setback and make it permanent.

And in a microwave society, how much of that damage was even temporary? Damn little as evidenced by what we went through previously, and what other schools did in our aftermath…

There are never any guarantees with hypotheticals, but it’s my belief that if he hadn’t done 1 and 2, then his critics would have never had enough backing to remove him when the FBI crap went down. Kansas certainly had Bill Self’s back when he was implicated.

What critics? We had a couple clowns at U of L in way too important positions, and sheep in the rest. Of course, there were the self righteous media talking heads who are more or less hit and run.

As I commented earlier in another thread, after Porcini’s and Sypher, McGee and Powell, recall what we had? 20,000 people at every home game…

If only hanging a sign were a sign of business success.
Fine to take potshots from your recliner. The Jurich family have been at this for the better part of five years and are buying premium ad space on a national TV broadcast. Can you show where they’re not “successful?”…

Umm - wut?

Seriously - for a guy who’s stated profession is making sex toys - you sure seem to be hung up on what consenting adults do.

Weird…
