both cut today. Hate it for both but I called this years ago. Neither was ready, both should have stayed in school and finished out with the Cards.

I can see Adel getting cut, but Spalding is interesting.

Adel had the green eye about Donovan.
In his mind, he was as good or better than Spida and didnt even want to come back for his junior season.
Suprised he got any NBA or NBDL run at all.

I was with you on Spalding but supposedly he didnt want to play for his third coach in 3 years.
He just needs to keep working wherever the league he signs in. I think he can make a 14-18 spot or a 2 way contract situation.

Even if both had atayed, no guarantee they make a squad. Its extremely tough, especially with more Foreigners and underclassmen in the league than ever before.

Yeah you called it like a thousand people thought the same thing. I don’t think another year would have made a difference to their personal careers. We are just being selfish in our own wants and desires.

Adel doesn’t surprise me but Spading does. Hopefully other players will look at this in the future and think twice before they jump. I would say both needed to stay and work on their defense but since they don’t play defense in the NBA that can’t be it.

Money now... Nowadays I don’t think these guys make their decisions on their own. I think they have to weigh the money now versus how much more they can make while risking the potential of a career ending injury. Unless you’re at that level, I don’t think the average fan knows how every time they set foot on the court against guys of equal or better talent, they’re risks.

There are dozens of players like Spaulding that can be very good college players but do not have pro ability. Every year at least 10 Spaulding try to make it.
You just remember cause they are not playing for your school. And every player says they remember but that won’t be them.

A person can always finish school later; can't always play professional basketball. Even if playing overseas, in a good league(Europe) a kid cam make great $$$, and experience of living in another country.

True, but how often can one motivate himself to get back in the classroom after a few years absence when he is flush with cash? Some can but far too many wait until the cash runs out.

Its not like they aren't going to be making money somewhere playing basketball.

some of the richest, smartest, and most world influencing individuals do not have a college degree. i have an engineering degree and have never been paid a penny for using it. waste of money. you can learn more from many other sources than ever needing a degree.

and just because they were cut, they can still go the the G league and work their way into the league. either way, i bet they get paid money to play basketball somewhere as opposed to actually having to get a job.

.
This is irrelevant to kids that have spent their entire lives trying to do one thing: get into the NBA.

True, but they will eventually approach age 40. That is generally when the fecal matter starts hitting the fan.

I don't know you or your circumstances, but I do know that engineering degrees seem to impress employers about one's capabilities. My cousin's 4 sons all left school with engineering degrees. Only one has worked in engineering, but the other three have been very successful in other fields. Don't sell that degree short, it may have helped you w/o you knowing it.

Bottom line - Adel’s ball skills were average at best. Spalding is simply soft. Both good college players, no shame in that. Also, as stated by others both can earn a good living overseas but it’s not the NBA.
