So, Butch Beard, Jerry Eaves, Marques Maybin and others who lobbied so hard for KP…whatcha got for us? So far it’s pretty much been to blame the players, blame the fans and make excuses for KP. You all said recruiting would be off the charts, that KP “won those games”, that KP was the ONLY one who could turn this program around, that KP had such great relationships with Nike and the NBA, that KP was the reason for the success of most of the UK bigs and our players would be fitter than ever. Now what you’re saying is we have no talent, the fans‘ expectations are way too high (after you fueled those expectations), KP is good with losing as it is teaching, that we have to give KP at least three years or else no other coach will ever want to come here. Let’s face it, you guys over sold KP and he is under delivering.
So, this is what you wanted?

Hell they think he's right on track.. Eaves was grasping at straws today comparing stats against 3 mid majors for KP's squad against stats from last years broken season. Bad part is last years stats were from the most part better than what we have now..

Those guys will never let it go and be crying racism if he gets fired.. Race has nothing to do with being a terrible coach.

We had a Black Coach in Pegues. The team played hard, just without the success.

Should have let Pegues coach through the IARP ruling.

First they said Wagner would be coming then they said AJ… guess who just committed to Texas? Lmao recruiting my ass this year is a disaster and next year shaping up to be.

You people just make no sense. You act like these phenom players owe Louisville something because KP is the coach. Why wouldn't AJ choose Texas over Louisville? Texas just blew out 2nd ranked Gonzaga and Louisville is 0 and 3 against cupcakes.

You're acting like a 14 year old, expecting all these top recruits should choose Louisville. We will be lucky to get one 5 star recruit for next season. KP has to prove he can win before any of these top recruits choose UofL.

I mean what do you want KP to do? Break the rules? He can only do so much. He has a monumental task turning this program around and needs to have a winning product before these 5 star recruits choose Louisville.

It's common sense.

Lmao I’m making fun of Maybin for thinking like that. I don’t expect a coach to take over this program after what we went through and come in and get 5 stars in less than 6 months. It takes time to develop and things aren’t going to be instant like Maybin was saying

lest we not forget it's only been two weeks since the cloud has been removed so KP has yet to recruit a singel player where he can say there are no sanctions. think about that, he's yet to recruit a singel person and be able to tell them that louisville can go to the tourney if they earn it. no matter his record this year he should get a chance to recruit some of the players we wants in his system. i mean, a little slack, if not a lot, is deserved for this year. liek i said in another post, let's see in february if the team progresses

These shows are probably more fun during the good times.

I don't listen, so you guys can correct me. It just sounds like they are rah rah which is fine to an extent but they are going overboard? They may be better served being a little more honest about what's going on and what the immediate future looks like?

If they start putting ideas in fans heads things like "DJ is gonna be a Card" or "Kenny will have the team T25" it's just not really sounding all that realistic right now to get players like that or to have the team near a poll.

The fans are on edge. The program is in ashes. I think overhype is a real bad idea, positivity is okay just be careful with how they send the message?

We just lost AJ Johnson to Texas. No cloud now.

Make no sense? We’re acting like…? Dude, we were force fed on a daily basis that KP was the end all, be all when it comes to recruiting. You don’t recall that? We were told of all the relationships that KP has with players, recruits and even Nike! All I think we’re guilty of is believing what we were told. This has been a thing lately….fans, who are calling out KP’s shortcomings, are being blamed for having set expectations too high. Especially when those expectations were hyped and overhyped by the “we must hire Kenny” crowd. Dumbass Steve Rummage even said on the air that fans who are now complaining should, “Go find another team to cheer for”.
So….what actually is “common sense” is when fans, who are disappointed in an underachieving coach and team, begin expressing their discontent. The surest way to fail at anything is to promise one thing then deliver something far less in value. This is why So many fans are unhappy.

It’s common sense.

I don't disagree about the nonsense of those who claimed KP was going to be the recruiting king pin starting his first season here. I surely didn't buy into that then and don't now.

But of course those who wanted KP hired were going to use the recruiting pitch after all, KP has never been a head coach. Too many fans apparently believed it or they wouldn't be upset every time a top level recruit doesn't commit to Louisville.

The fact is until KP can show he can win, the vaunted recruits are not going to be convinced regardless of what Maybin or Rummings say.

He sure left us in a disaster, Cypher gate, Stripper gate, FBI investigation, vacated title. Need I say more ?
Totally disingenuous comment. The Cypher incident had no effect on the program as Pitino led the Cards to three final 4's and a title after that.

Andre McGee is the sole reason for stripper gate. Period? But Pitino holds some responsibility since he was in charge of the program. The vacated wins was NCAA overkill which is why many believe we will get the title back.

And the FBI sting was BS. Pitino was exonerated. A victim of a over zealous NCAA using Pitino and the basketball program to highlight the FBI investigation.

So please, don't say anymore.

I can’t even listen to Maybin’s show anymore. Rummage(sp?) is unbearable to listen to. Supposedly has all this “inside info” and is wrong 99% of the time. Maybin isn’t much better. Then, of course, Nick Valvano is an absolute anchor that sinks the whole ship. I’ve 100% switched to podcasts.

Rummage comes off as one of those dudes who were the "cool guy" in high school, and then keeps going to high school parties well into his 20's thinking he's still the "cool guy."

I'm not saying Pitino was perfect. His hubris advanced some of the problems that occurred, but those Cards fans who treat him like a Kelvin Sampson are uncalled for. He rescued the program from the waning years of Denny Crum.

It doesn't take much of an imagination to see what would have become of the program had Tom Jurich not hired Rick Pitino. People forget about that. I wasn't thrilled when he was hired because I hate UK, but it didn't take long before I realized we hit a home run hiring him.

Until that nimrod McGee, the program had no issues with violations. Pitino wouldn't bend to gain the one and dones. He did it the right way. Building a championship team with juniors and seniors. I came to really admire his dogged determination to make his players perform above their perceived abilities. I miss that.

Yeah that nimrod was Ricky P's responsibility...
Of course he was but so what. Was Pitino supposed to be able to read his mind and predict he was going to do those things?

Why is it so hard for you to comprehend that sometimes in life people let you down and put you in a bad situation? Do you have children? If so, do you take the blame when they do something stupid? Is it always a reflection of your bad parenting? Or is it sometimes just plain shocking what your child did?

With what you're getting at Pitino never should have recruited Andre McGee in the first place. Now if McGee had a shady past then yes you could say Pitino maybe shouldn't have recruited him, but that wasn't the case. He was basically a choir boy.

You can only go so far in blaming anybody other than McGee for that fiasco. Unless you believe Pitino knew what was going on, you can't fairly blame Pitino for McGees behavior.

I really don’t understand why people still are hung up on what happened 5-6 years ago. There is no changing it.

At this point it is ridiculous. The reality is basketball is a mess. Fan however you want to fan but quit living in the past.
