Campbellsville, Ky., Taylor County High School 2017 point guard David Sloan has been recruited by the University of Louisville for almost a year now and landed an offer from the Cardinals in June.

But Wednesday was Sloan's first time meeting Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino face-to-face.

"It was great," Sloan said. "I loved it."

Sloan, considered the state's top player in the Class of 2017, made an unofficial visit to U of L to watch a practice as the Cardinals prepare for a trip to Puerto Rico next week. He spent time chatting with Pitino and his assistant coaches.

"It meant a lot to me that he took the time before practice and came over and talked with me," Sloan said of Pitino. "And then through the practice, he kept telling me what was going to happen and kept talking to me.

"He's a Hall of Fame coach, a legendary coach and that was pretty cool for me."

Sloan had made a visit to U of L last season for the game against Duke but said he wanted to get back and see the Cardinals' in a practice situation.

"I really like how they play and how the guards get after it," Sloan said. "They have some guards who can shoot it."

Sloan, who is a native of Louisville who moved to Taylor County from Moore High prior to his freshman season, also has offers from Western Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Missouri, Eastern Kentucky, Samford, Wright State and Southeast Missouri State.

Seems to be a very talented player and a bright young.
