When playing the Cards the Irish look like the #1 team in America. Farrell looks like a NBA point guard and Colson looks like a NBA all star post player. Here the Cards are this top ranked defense but not against ND. They just drive to the goal like it's the easiest thing to do and if it weren't for Anas we would be down by 12 points.

The fouls called on Adel were total BS and it's always a charge against the Cards. I hate ND more than almost any school except UK and Duke. They have no business winning this game. Their best win has been against Pitt while the Cards have beaten four ranked teams. UofL has actually shot well in this game which usually means a run away win but not against the mighty Irish and their puny home court advantage.

It's simply unbelievable that this Cards team may be 0-2 to start the conference. But when your first two ACC games are against the two teams that are your kryptonite this is what you get. This sport can be so frustrating when it's obvious you have way more talent than the other team but it don't seem to matter.

I was about to post the same thing. I have never seen our defense olay more direct lines to the basket. The fact that it's ND doing it is even more baffling. How vasturia is able to blaze past our players is just beyond me. Don't get me wrong, he's a tough player, but those guys should not be able to drive to the basket at will. My only explanation is perhaps we were tired?? This is a frustrating team for sure, partly because I think we all see the potential, but we can be very schizophrenic.

I didn't get to watch the game. It wasn't on TV in Maryland and I couldn't stand watching it on my iPad/Laptop. 0-2 stings big time. Dead last in the conference and the only team without a win. Gonna be a long ACC season!

They have most definitely made the trip through the ACC conference road even tougher this year.

It was tough anyway but boy do they have a tough road to climb now. The good thing is they have plenty of opportunities to get better and make up for these losses.

My larger concerns are the inconsistency and lack of play/output from Hicks and King. I really thought they would be giving this team more by this time.

Don't jump off just yet. It's still early.

If you can have a winning record in the ACC this year, that's going to be a good year. It's tough from top to bottom. A lot of parody. A lot of different styles of play.

Certainly not here to brag, as I think Louisville will return the favour when we head to your place later this season, but it's not as if you guys lost to a trash team. The core of this team has played in back-to-back Elite 8's and we returned 4 starters and 6 of our top 8 from last year's team that made the deep March run. No doubt y'all have more talent, but this game was lost on the little things.

ND played 4 around 1 the majority of the night, with 6'5 Bonzie Colson as our lone forward in the game, yet somehow we out rebounded Louisville 38-35, something I never saw coming. Furthermore, because you guys switch everything, Rick allowed Vasturia and Farrell to end up at the top of the key in a mismatch vs your bigs. Brey said in his post game presser that they saw it on film and it was part of the game plan, with Farell and Vasturia clearly having the blow by ability on your forwards. Obviously you guys are huge along your front line and we're able to swat a few, but I was proud of our guards for being tough and keeping up with the plan of attacking the paint, something we did well to establish big leads over Purdue and Villanova, before coughing up the games because of settling for jump shots down the stretch.

Y'all have the more talented group, but they need to play like it to beat a proud ND group on the road. You can call it luck all you want, but luck didn't let ND out rebound you guys (something that should never happen) and luck didn't help Bonzie Colson (as undersized as he is) pull down 14 rebounds, the combined number for Mahmoud and Spalding.

Two more interesting stats. ND went into the game leading the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio, but Louisville actually played cleaner tonight, turning the ball over 11 times to ND's 12. That's a good job (until the last couple minutes) by the Cardinal... ND is leading the nation in free throw shooting as a team (86%). They were 22-25 tonightn (88%). Huge part of the much needed win.

Louisville is going be just fine. Y'all have one hell of a team. Looking forward to the rematch down South later on this season. Good luck in the meantime!

Cards chucked too many 3s and didn't play sound half court D.

Ball movement was lacking as well.

ND has a solid team that is ahead of UofL @ this time of the season. They are also just a tough match-up for the Cards, they have a very good offense.

Good analysis Ontario, you're right. Brey did a nice job of creating mismatches w our bigs on the perimeter. ND is a tough matchup for UL indeed. I expect a double digit win at the yum this March by the home team. Will be there w my dad!!
