The situation is not ideal, as a win likely won't be enough to secure a NCAAT bid. A loss, however, pretty much guarantees the NIT. So, the Cards need two wins, maybe even three. I think two does it. Try to think of it this way, with everything the program has been through, with potentially what's on the horizon, not getting an invite to the Big Dance won't be soul crushing. What a strange and awkward basketball season it's been.

Yes, I believe you're right. The Cards will need two wins minimum. Even then with an overall record of 21-13, it's won't be a lock, and even if the Cards are rewarded an at-large bid, it'll be one of the last at-large bids which means an 11 or 12 seed. It will be a very difficult road to travel, but this team is getting what it has earned so there won't be any belly aching from me. Honestly, the only post season this group has earned right now is the NIT.

I have to agree with OP. Despite all that is swirling around the program I had hope of winning 20+ games and getting into the tournament and winning a game or two( which would warrant a celebration this year). In the final analysis I felt that some early games that got away from us would be our undoing...Seton Hall, Clemson,Miami and a few others... all winnable but due to player mistakes our David's lack of experience... they were losses.
I am always hopeful but will be less distraught this year when it is over than in years past.

What those in charge fail to realize is that the fact that we have an interim President, AD and coach the fan base is going to speculate and stew and worry. The best thing the University could do is nail down these positions so the program and the fans can begin looking toward the future. Unfortunately they lack the vision and foresight to move forward and put the ugliness behind us so their ineptitude is drawing this out much longer than needs to be ...which further damages the University, the program, and the fan base etc. the handling of much that has gone on is proof that they are incapable of providing the leadership we need.

How would you like to be the 5 or 6 seed that would have to play UofL? Would you feel good about your chances to win?

Yes because every time we had a chance to get over the hump we have seemed to blow it. I understand some of you fans optimistic view but this team is who they are very inconsistent. they have shown nothing to think they can make a serious run in the ACC tourney they are not going to all of a sudden morph in to some elite squad. Yes anything is possible but when you lose a game up by 4 with .9 secs remaining . Something tells me you are not the horse i would bet all my money on.

No question this team plays hard...they just need to learn to play mart! It is so frustrating to watch this team play with a lead because guys would be standing around on the perimeter and a couple of guys would look at the wall of defenders then try to drive the ball into traffic, jack up a no-look/off-balanced/well-defended shot or just flat out loose the handle on the ball. Then because they lost the ball and players are late getting back, the other team gets a transition basket for an easy lay-up or an easy 3. Next thing they know, lead is cut to single digit and the shots tightened up. Game's over and we all wondered what happened. It all started with a couple of boneheaded plays or a player trying to "be the man" but not good enough to finish around the rim.
