committee going to find a way to put us in the same bracket again. 2012 FF was too much for them.

I have always said that the selection committee has always based their decisions on TV ratings rather than fairness. I even read that a TV represenative sits in with them to make sure they get what they want. The network is paying 100's of millions of dollars so they have a lot too say. We also have to remember that these are not from the selection committee but just a projection of what might be.

One more development that minimizes the importance of the regular season game...

I've noticed that Duke and North Carolina NEVER have to play each other in the tournament. Have they ever met in the tournament or even been put in the same bracket?

Highly doubtful but they are in the same conference, whereas UofL and UofK are not. I'm not 100% sure but I think they have some sort of rule where they try to separate the conference teams from the same bracket when possible.

I don't think there is a rule to separate teams by conference. We have been up against conference foes in the regions all the way back when we're in the Metro. I guarantee there will be quite a few ACC teams against one another in the regions. I also don't remember Duke and UNC meeting each other in the regions.

Conference Mates are not supposed to play each other till at least the Elite Eight...The Committee Chair said as much Saturday during the Top Sixteen Seeds Show...Normally, Duke and UNC are higher ranked seeds (1, 2 or 3) than we are, and are put in different regions because of that...You can bet they want to get them in a Final Four or National Title Game as the ULTIMATE Goal!!!

I suspect Virginia will be in our bracket, along with Kentucky. With Baylor on our side of the ledger as well. Just sayin ;)

Could be because we always play in a stout conference with so many tourney teams. Its inevitable to play your conference brothers when so many make the tourney.

UK shouldn't ever have that problem.

There was a time back in the 80's when the SEC wasn't all that bad. At one time LSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas and UofK would field really good teams.

Today? It's not good. A couple of good teams and a whole bunch of not so good. It's 100% a football conference first. Basketball is an afterthought for most of the SEC members.

The 80s are fine, but that was 30 years ago...

Slappies talk about these teams having had good runs, but that seldom happened at the same time. Florida went to the NCAA tourney six times prior to 2000. On the flipside, Arkansas basketball has never quite made it into the new millennium. And Georgia's record in the NCAA tourney the last 20 years is 1-6.

As bad as the SEC is, I still think it's overrated. How do two teams from the SEC deserve three-seeds, while none from the Big Ten are in the Top 16? Alabama's RPI is as high as Syracuse's--why?

And shouldn't LPT be more accurately evaluated against a schedule of better teams?

"Elite program", my a$$...

You bring up some good points Zipp it sure is odd that the SEC has that much pull in basketball. The only thing I can think is they have school Presidents or Athletic Directors on selection committees.

There's probably something to that we don't know... Analogous to the Big Ten's inexplicable status in football this past year.

Could it be the infamous ESPN love of propping up its big investment with the league?

Cause it is sure not based on merit.

The $ec was pretty good back in the '80s but then they saw that they could make far more money with their football programs so they simply pushed their basketball to the back burner. Kinda like they did back in the 50s and 60s and 70s.
