Not sure why and NBA would really want him that bad or really go out of there way to sign him to an insane deal. Cal would really be exploited as an NBA coach with equal talent all around the league.
Like he's "exploited" by going 3-0 against Self and 4-2 against Roy while at UK, both of whom also have burger boys off the bench every single year?
"Exploited" with his 1-1 record vs Coach K at UK including this recent 11 point victory (and K has had the last 2 number 1 recruiting classes)- how could an awful coach beat the GOAT when the latter has had been recruiting, if anything, better, the last two years?!?!?
"Exploited" like when he was one of two coaches to get a W against your guy
Pitino when he was coaching one of the most talented CBB teams in history - the '96 wildcats - whom Cal split two games with, including winning by 10. How could an awful Xs and Os coach get a 10 point victory over the basketball genius Rick Pitino when Rick had one of the most talented rosters and greatest teams of all time?!?!?!? Rick had 9 NBA guys, Cal had 1.
Cal got that victory with a roster featuring only 2 players who even had high major offers. That was in a run of 5 seasons averaging 30 wins per, making the tourney 5 years straight at one of the worst schools in the country, which had been to the NCAAs
once in history - In 1962.
Leave aside ethical issues, just say he paid every single player, because no matter how compelling my case, I know you guys cherish that belief more dearly than your love for God and family - so say he bought them all with 100,000 bucks and a big bag of cocaine.
Would do nothing to change the empirical fact that just from an Xs and Os standpoint, he had an unbelievable mid major run, and like Brad Stevens, he did it with one borderline max contract NBA player and a bunch of guys you've never heard of.
And let's not even get into Cal 7 Rick 1. I already gave you plenty of examples with Cal having equal or lesser talent, so don't get off track with our current series where Cal always has more.
