Ryan McMahon

Glad to put the transfer possibility to rest. I really thought he was going to go - after his connection to pitino and with Perry getting more and more minutes.

He was hurt and had a setback in his recovery. I never heard a credible source that said he was contemplating a transfer.

Ryan has shown that he isn't afraid of the big moments so far in his young Cardinal career. Besides the nice passes and crucial steal at the end of today's game, remember that he hit some big shots against Purdue last season and hit one or two clutch shots against Cuse in OT last season as well. He has a nose for the ball and is pretty smart and steady.

Ryan will help this team be better. I had no fear of losing this game at the end as these kids did some serious growing up yesterday. But that’s just me.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

I wasn't saying that him transferring was anything I heard - i just found it to be plausible on my own, particularly when he warmed up against sienna and then Padgett played the two walk ons and not RM. Would you have been shocked if he had transferred?

I had heard all along that he was hurt and suffered a setback in his recovery. I just didn’t know to expect that he would make such an impact in his first game back.

You didn’t answer my question.
The answer is yes, I would have been shocked because he has already sat out one year as a redshirt. Dick Vitale saw this kid in an AAU game and recommended him to CRP. As far as I know, he wasn’t on anybody else’s radar. Not like CRP went to another school to coach. Ryan and all these kids on this team, well except the seniors, need to see what plays out in terms of any future sanctions.

He is a big shot taker. Without him, the Cards lose, and maybe lose to IU also.

Not to nitpick, but he's a slight liability on defense. Albany seemed to figure that out. We got to figure out ways to hide him.

Which is really hard to do if you have him and Quinn on the floor at the same time.

I really liked Rays 'refuse to lose' attitude in the last 2 minutes of the game. He stepped up on both ends of the court and his efforts led the Cards to victory IMO. Congrats Ray!!!!

I agree about Ray. I think he was really disappointed in himself tonight - good to see him step up late.

The way to hide him is the Syracuse zone not the matchup zone we played last night. I think to CDP’s credit, he’s still experimenting with what works best.

Somebody else also pointed out having Snider on the floor at the same time with him hurt the team defensively as well. I agree Padgett is mixing lineups trying to find things he likes.

I agree that Ryan is exposed on defense at times, but to be fair, putting him on Albany's Cremo was just a big mismatch for him. Cremo is a baller who has about 5 or 6 inches on Ryan and is a tough player to guard for most people.

When Ryan and Snider were in together, it forced Ryan to guard Cremo but when Snider went out, Ryan slid over to main PG and Sutton, I think, started guarding Cremo to much greater success. But there will be other times McMahon will simply be over matched in certain games. But man, he is just so steady and has clutch shooting.
