Rueben Owens has decommitted

I didn’t think he was ever going to end up here anyway. Doubt he follows Gomer to Cincy either.

Funny he was committed to Louisville with Satterfield as the coach who we all know is not a good offensive coach. Then Brohm comes in who is a better offensive coach and he decommits. So either he was never coming to Louisville or he didn’t do his homework.

I hate to see any ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ decommit. But this particular player was committed to Texas first. I think he will commit and decommit to a few more schools before it's over.

Nobody knows for sure how committed he "was" or if he would've ended up here with Satterfield or not. But, we know for sure he ain't coming now and I think it sux..

Satt isn’t a terrible offensive coach, just predictable. He was also a run-first guy, which would be appealing to a running back.

Why would Satterfield run from the best class he will ever have? Was it because he knew he wasn’t really going to land it?

I am really interested to see what happens with the rest of this class. We know very few will end up with Satterfield. Why would Clarkson waver with Brohm who is clearly a better QB coach and with NIL (Flyville 23) still in play. On top of that the city is juiced about the hire which could led to more NIL money.

I don’t care where the kids go it seems really odd when you look at the whole picture.

Expect to lose the majority of that class. And this isn't a knock on JB. If any of them do make it, that is great news.

But they signed on with another staff and the NIL. It was a package deal, but the package changed. They have no relationship with the new staff. It's a big change.

Maybe Satterfield promised them starting positions or something like that. Who knows?

They've got so many other staffs that they are comfortable with why would they sign with a staff they don't know at all when they can just hook up with some staffs they've known for over a year or more?

I agree about Clarkson but I imagine Jeff is watching tape of Brock Domann on the way down here and seeing his next David Blough.

Hopefully Clarkson will see what we see.

I don't think he ran from it. I think he felt disrespected here because we didn't give him and extension and a raise he asked for, plus you knew he heard the constant whispers from a faction of fans wanting JB.

He had an opportunity to move on and did. No hard feelings from me. Worked out for both parties IMO.

At the end of the day - at least so far - it’s at worst essentially trading an unproven HS kid for Jeff Brohm.

I’d make that trade erryday of the week.
But you have said for the last few weeks that none of the recruiting class was coming because of coach Satt just for the NIL $$$ and that non would care if the coach changed?

I think CSS had bad character and no integrity. He flirted with SC the had some very mediocre seasons, the team looked like shit most games and his offense was JUNK.

Reading about the things happening behind the scenes IMO he was not a very good person at all.

Glad he's gone. Brohm is all class and definitely a Louisville first person. He also understands the yut rivalry.

Ask these questions.

Scott Satterfield couldn’t recruit a lick.

We had a 6-7 team that wasn’t exciting on offense

Our AD fired him last year and his job security was low low low.

After all that, he somehow convinced all these kids from far away to turn down the biggest programs in the nation to come play for him. A guy that hasn’t developed NFL talent and skill players were running away from in the portal.

How does that happen? We didn’t want to say it out loud because they’re great recruits and we wanted to believe they just saw us as a powerhouse and all that.

This class didn’t give a darn about Satt’s offense or plan to develop and use them. Honestly? Other schools offered more NIL money, it wasn’t all about NIL. They didn’t care about some tradition of this school.

They had leverage. They could all come in and play early. Clarkson could call the shots and all the buddies could do what they want. Because if Satt didn’t play ball then the class is gone and he was fired.

They committed to Satt, so just saying “omg Jeff should tell them what he’ll do” doesn’t make sense. Lincoln Riley at USC, Kirby Smart at UGA, and even Jimbo Fisher could point to some big players he’s coached too.

If they committed here to a country boy from North Carolina that had no job security or any real national profile, then Jeff’s resume isn’t gonna matter.

And we don’t need a class like that because Scott had to “sell his soul” per se to get that class. Yes the talent is amazing, but connect the dots and the logic. Kids from California don’t dream of coming here to play Boston College and NC State. They probably only watched us when Lamar played, which his last big game for us was 6 years ago.

Jeff will get guys who want to be here and have plenty of guys who will score points.

What the hell did I just read 👆

I think it is odd that anyone would think that Satt was a good offensive coach or even an ahead Coach. When I was watching our games on TV I knew what play he was going to call and I wasn’t the guy across the field making millions of dollars. So if he is so predictable for me to figure him out I guarantee all the other high paying coaches can figure him out.

Holy Smokes. I’ll take some of what you’ve been sniffing. Louisville has a strong NIL and Satterfield and staff landed Clarkson and he went to work. Speculation like yours is sheer fantasy. The obsession with bashing Satterfield after he’s gone makes me wonder why so much vitriolic hatred. The hate is beyond anything I’ve seen for someone who is not a criminal. I support Brohm 100%. He’s going to be successful. Keep bashing Satterfield if it makes you feel better.

Speaking of obsession,
YOUR obsession to still defend that clown is laughable. The best coaching here did here was leaving.
Go be his shield-

When people say Louisville NIL is strong not sure about that. What we know is the Flyville 23 with Clarkson was strong.

Flyville 23 is a promotional business for each class. It is a really interesting concept. Each player in this and future classes were set to get NIL. Clarkson was selling Flyville 23 more than Louisville. Satterfield’s role who knows but Clarkson’s dad tweet about the rat jumping ship is interesting. There was a lot of work put into Flyville. I am sure his main role was controlling playing time. Flyville 23 can’t make money if it is on the sidelines.

What is interesting is Flyville 23 is still a good concept, in theory, Brohm’s offense is much more attractive. The holding pattern is will Brohm play along highly unlikely.

Welcome to NIL.

When a Top 5 RB commits to Texas..... then Louisville..... then Texas A&M that means there is a lot going on behind the scenes then anyone knows. This KID is only 18 in HS. I wish the best of luck to him.

Looks like Reuben might end up being coached by the jerk that quit on the same football program that he originally committed to before he bailed.

Always good to have a connection to your coaches I guess.
