They should allow guys to declare for the draft, but if they don't take money they can return to school, which would let a lot of kids improve their stock or even play their way into the draft from undrafted status. I don't see how you give up ametuer status if you don't take money.

Louisville is in a tough spot with recruiting. They have to do things a little differently than the traditional football schools. Small state plus they aren't the State University.

They have to take chances with transfers hoping they will give them a full two or three years. When they leave after one year Louisville doesn't get the finished product. I don't think Clemons really would be much better next year. Fields on the other hand would be an all ACC type of performer based off his last six games.

Transfers a mixed bag of nuts that is for sure. It would be interesting to see how many transfers were actually really productive over the years. The one caveat is unless they are coming home. That is where Louisville has had some success, Jones, Shelton, and Caldwell Gardner all come to mind.

Guys turn pro, do they mail it in when they make that decision, even with the bowl game still to play?

Guys stop going to class, and get kicked off the team. This happens at a lot of places, we felt that last year.

You have no "Testing the Waters" in Football. The only thing you can do is ask the NFL for a Draft Round Projection in late December/Early January...once you declare officially on 15 January you cant comeback

I think Harvey-Clemons probably feels that his stock can't get any higher and he might as well leave now. Fields has a chance to REALLY improve his draft stock. Not only with performance on the field, but if he's able to keep his nose clean off the field for another year in college.

If he believes his stock can't get any higher, then I hope he has his degree at the end of this year. Except for the CFL, there isn't anywhere else to go and he needs to improve to even be considered there.

Really don't agree with this perspective... First of all, I'm not sure why or how we're "in a tough spot with recruiting"... In fact, we're about ready to land the best back-to-back high school recruiting classes in our history.

We've also had a pretty good history and record with transfers. IMO we've had a disproportionate number because they come here and excel, generally speaking. That's obviously a good thing.

These kids wanna start getting NFL money ASAP. They all do. And if the pros are going to pay it, they will leave early. That probably also motivates many of the high school kids to come here...

I think he could have a future at OLB if he could put on another 30 lbs. He was also an orginal member of the 2012 class and ranked #31 overall. The majority of those guys are already in the NFL, he probably feels he should be there too.

Don't disagree with your assessment "FAN, but if his true NFL position is at OLB, he is not going to get that opportunity to bulk up and prove himself in the NFL next year. Since there is no real development league in the NFL, he would be smarter to attempt to make the change at UL or be a done and one somewhere else.

I agree no question he needs another year of college to really determine what his NFL position is going to be.

Agree Cue...if he is drafted it will be late and some one taking a chance, that he can be OLB IMO

Yes...for their sake they need to come back and truthfully the only one that should even entertain leaving early-(and he should come back as well) is Keith Kelsey.

Agree IMO Kelsey is the only underclassmen who should even consider leaving.
