Reasons not to fret if we are #5 tonight.

If we are #5 tonight behind Alabama, Ohio St, Michigan and Clemson, I know most of us will be disappointed that Michigan is 1 or 2 slots higher than us but it will work itself out as long as we win out.

Michigan's ranking really makes little difference to the Cards hopes because if they beat Ohio St, the Buckeyes are out. If they lose to the Buckeyes then the Wolverines are toast. Obviously we want the former, so a possible 2 loss Big 10 Champion Wisconsin ( whose only losses were nail biters against Michigan and OSU) doesn't sneak in. Either way it makes very little difference where Michigan is ranked tonight.

Clemson being above us also has little bearing because if the Tigers win out, they are in. If they lose 1 game, they are toast.

Now if we are ranked behind Washington tonight then that's reason to be pissed and worried but I doubt that happens.

Last year, Oklahoma was a one loss conference champ whose one loss was to a bad Texas team on a neutral field. Ohio State lost at home to the eventual #4. Oklahoma got in, OSU did not.

Whether UL is ahead of UW tonight or not, if UW wins out, they are in ahead of Louisville.

5th, what a load of sh*t. Sounds like the top 4 are not the only bluebloods in the house. We now have the bluebloods protectors. Us and Boise State will never get a fair shot.

Ghost you are spot on here...the committee has positioned the top 4 to remain top 4 ans only shuffle their order. Regardless of the OSU MI outcome they will only flip flop or bump Clemson around to suit their purpose. Makes me sick.

I think we're in pretty good shape to be honest. IF we can beat Houston and Kentucky, and do so with convincing wins, we'll move up to 4th because everyone wants to see Lamar Jackson go up against the Tide's defense.

Of course that would mean Michigan has to lose to OSU and Michigan drop 2 spots. Seeing how they lose to a non ranked team and not move from #3, that might be too much to expect.

Welcome to "big time" college football. It's probably in everyone's best interest to expect the worst to avoid getting your hopes up.

Can't be too sure of that... Only 0/1-loss teams ahead of us, and two behind (Washington and WVU). And you can't be too critical of the resumes in 2 thru 4.

tOSU or Michigan drops after their game. Win and the way is paved...
Michigan just lost and didn't drop. It seems that if it comes down to a few teams for that last spot we will not be selected. If Wisconsin or Penn State manages to win the
Big Ten they will jump us. If Washington wins out they will jump us. If Michigan beats Ohio State they won't drop far enough. The only Hope I have is Penn State loses and Ohio State wins the Big Ten with Washington losing again or Clemson loses

As I said in another thread, you can't just say "didn't drop enough". It depends on where you are and where you're going. If you're undefeated as Nos. 2-4 were, you can't drop too far before hitting TWO-loss teams.

Everyone needs to relax...
