I'm very concerned about the QB position now. I think Pass can't throw the ball with any kind of consistency or accuracy. After tonight, every team will know that they don't have to respect our passing game and just shut down our running game.

Add turnovers to that and we may be in trouble.

I kind of wanna see Evan Conley. As long as he can kind of be like will Stein and just manage the game and make short passes that would help

Cunningham needs another shot. But neither he nor Pass can stretch the field.

Week 1, new system, facing a team that made the playoff last year that returned a lot... I think he's done alright. He hasn't forced anything one fumble was low snap bad focus maybe, other 2 he was trying to make a play for us. I mean, we're kind of in the game in the 4th Q.

Very tough 1st game for Pass. Over the next few games I think we will see a very efficient q.b. and offense overall. ND is making life pretty hard for Puma. I really think with the competition the next 2 games Pass will look like a diff Qb.

Don't get me wrong, I hope Pass gets better and becomes a good passer. I just can't see a team having any respect for a vertical game.

I totally get your point, and you may be "spot on" lol

I am just giving a little more rope... hoping that we only see one more team this good defensively the rest of the year, not sure how all the others will shape up. Their front 4 is really good.

There are intangibles that all winning quarterbacks possess - chief among them being confidence. Maybe it’s a residual from last year or, maybe he never had it but, Pass lacks confidence. He looks to be waiting for something to go wrong.

That's what I've been trying to put my finger on all night. There was something about Pass that I couldn't quite figure out, and that is it.

There is only 1 other team we play this year with the kind of D we are seeing tonight and we all know its Clemson. Seriously no other team on our schedule even comes close to the overall talent level of ND's D. We should have a lot of success moving the ball most games. I think we will see our receivers getting way better seperation, our line giving him more time to throw and overall more efficient passing attack. I'm willing to wait and see what he looks like when were not playing top 10 teams. Might be a real fun season

I don't think WR's have been open at all in this game. I could be wrong.
I saw twice were he could have had a open receiver if he had of went through his progressions. I told my son he acts like a punch drunk QB, like as soon as he drops back he starts to panic. It's like as soon as he drops back in his head he is like I got to get rid of it I have to get rid of it. That and the fact he throws an ugly ball, it's either too high or behind the receiver.

Up to now, Pass is the football equivalent of VJ King. Physically gifted and seemingly great kid that everyone likes and pulls hard for but, something just doesn’t click for him (them) to put it together here and realize their full potential.

No doubt he's struggled with accuracy throughout his career.
I agree and the vast majority of his accuracy issues are confidence related. Offense gets off to a great start with that initial drive and Pass is feeling good. Second drive he drops that dime that Tutu catches with his face mask - showing his ability to make really good throws. Things get rough, he puts the ball on the turf multiple times and his confidence - and ability to make those types of throws - is nonexistent for the remainder of the game.

Bottom line is that he has to be more resilient. Even in the best case scenarios this year, UofL is going to be in some dogfights and they can’t have Pass fold up.

Pass did fine until that first fumble then it was all but over for him. Mentally he seems to be fragile. His passing is suspect. His mental toughness is suspect. I'm not sure how long he's going to be the starting QB.

I think BPGhost has it right in saying that he looks like he plays like he is waiting for something to go wrong

Yep. Ghost is usually all over it with his opinions. I agree with him more than I disagree. That's for sure.

Uh, Will Stein wasn't very good. But, Puma is not the guy. I have no faith in him at all.

I think even the announcers said last night that the first thing CSS noticed when he came in was how mentally defeated this team was. It's like they're waiting for bad things to happen. I thought CSS post game locker room speech was a great indicator of that fact. Even though they lost the game, he was heaping praise on them for how hard they played. We all need to do the same.
