Program on a plateau

It's year 4 and the program is no better or worse than when Petrino took over. Always finish 8-4 or 9-3. Recruiting rankings stay about the same each year. Seems like he's stuck on a plateau.

IMO he has about 2 years left to take the next step of he's gone.

I remember Nebraska fired Frank Solich after 3 10 win seasons. They’ve never been the same. Better to be good year after year, occasionally winning a championship, than be up and down with multiple coaching changes.

We may very well be where we're going to be. Regardless the coach.

Our lack of a recruiting base is going to haunt us yearly.

And before we say " we need to recruit better", see basketball.

If there were another way to recruit better, we'd have done it.

Fellow UofL fans, we joined the ACC in 2014 and have won ONE Conference Championship???? Women's Volleyball. The ACC is monster men's sports conference. Boston College has been a member since 2004 and has won ZERO.

We are in a P5 conference and to me the very best fit for Louisville from a athletic and academic standpoint. It will take time to be at the top every year. Even as we improve the other members do as well. This isn't the BE or the AAC. We need patience and realistic football expectations. We have left the pouch and are now running with the big dogs.

Go CARDS. Beat Boston College!

Peace

(Follow-up comments...)

Issue is not with 2014, 2015 or half of 2016 Zipp; something backfired heading into the close of 2016 and is still lingering around.

Yeah, but that's something to figure out, not base sweeping conclusions on. Analogous to other issues like the running game, defense, etc. They're important at a tactical level, but not in how "the program" is performing or being managed. Too much reactionary emotion from a fanbase that needs some stability in their college athletics lives.

If we were something like 3-4 against Clemson and FSU the last four years (instead of 1-6), which is where many of you guys expect to be, our conference record in that span would be as good as FSU's. Think about that... You EXPECT to be as good as FSU in your first four years in the conference. Those are mighty lofty expectations. I'm not saying you don't hope or shoot for that. But to legitimately expect it?

I'm not happy with mediocrity nor is Jurich or Petrino. (Tyra and Postel might be...) But we're way the hell better than mediocre. A recalibration of your performance gauges is suggested...

Haven’t we won conference title in baseball every year since we’ been in the ACC?

"Recognize" is fine... We've been consistently the best baseball team in the ACC since we joined. And that's what you want...

I keep saying this - be careful what you wish for.
