Will be interesting to see if there are any changes Sunday when ND comes to town.

I'm not saying there are any obvious answers. It's just a matter of needing to try something different when something is no longer working.

I don't have too many suggestions or strong opinion - if it's the same 5 Sunday so be it.

Just wondering if he'll take a look at it. Maybe it's too late in the season.

Shake it up with what? No one is pressing the starters. Enoch has a good game but he is 50/50 whether he is effective or not.

I thought Mack tried that tonight with playing King and Perry more.

At this point there probably are not any answers left. Seems like the team has totally folded and that is a sad thing to see because they were becoming one of my favorites for their heart and grit earlier in the season.

Williams hasn't had a good game in a month, so that 50/50 for Enoch looks pretty good given the alternative.

I'd start King at SG. I know the dude is a bust but he does hit the glass and Fore is invisible most nights.

Then again, he could make no changes - I wouldn't be upset if he stayed with what he's gone with.

Jeez, this is hard to take after last season and the hope our early games gave us this season. Ready to get it over with and start building a confident team. I feel for these guys. Go Cards!

Folks we are playing in the ACC with a PG from Samford and a 2G from Richmond neither are over 6 ft tall. Really look at this roster and tell me you are surprised. It is a miracle they have won the games they have.

They were predicted to run 11th in the ACC we all know that. Nobody is surprised.

All I'm saying is if something isn't working, try something different? I'm not suggesting making the players walk home tonight.

It may not be the entire story, but it Is the main point of the story. Talent matters more than coaching. There was only 1 elite coach that won consistently with less talent...he is no longer at Louisville. This happens next year then I will be worried.

I agree I have no idea what changes Mack could even make at this point. The scouting report is out apply ball pressure and run them off the 3 point line.

Q his replacement CC not better than Q
Ray his replacement Enoch/Williams nowhere the production
Deng his replacement Nwora not better than Deng at least Deng was consistent on offense just about every game fpr the most part.

Kwan is just holding a space to be honest.
Vj and Perry total disappearance from last year no production or major part of the issue..

So its really amazing they have won as many games this year period because the fact is this team is not talented what can some of you not see.

And not to forget Anas last year team was way more talent latented than this one

Agree.

Time to go back to Enoch in the post, CC @ the one, Ryan (instead of Fore), Nwora & Sutton. We are simply a better offensive team with McMahon on the floor.

Id like to see a lineup of
CC/Sutton/Nwora/Malik/Enoch.

At least for 5 minutes.
I’d like to see what that group could do as well. Problem I see is that Williams doesn’t shoot it well enough to be a reliable option on the kick out - nor is his handle good enough to get to the rim. Maybe though he could actually score on the low block against a 4.

That, plus I think some of their legs are shot from too many minutes. Our shooting goes south late in every game.

Hell let the Walkons start the first 5 min next game, or maybe the last 7 min so the meltdowns aren’t in the back of their heads haha

At this point I guess changing up the lineup wouldn't hurt. After reflecting on last night's game they couldn't really do much worse with a different lineup of players and hopefully it would spark something, anything, at this point.

We haven’t broke 60 points in 4 games straight. I think that would merit some kind of change.

I think Enoch at least tries to score in the low post while Williams is simply content with shooting 3’s.

I've been wondering about Malik in the low post lately and if he could score at all from there. Last night I saw him attempt a post move and it didn't go anywhere. It looked to be due to his lack of weight/strength for the most part.

He needs to be able to get something out of the low post occasionally and try to utilize his quickness there.

But yeah Enoch has post moves and is capable of scoring there, just needs to do it more consistently. Whatever the case the team needs scoring ability in the middle. Can't be a donut there.

Play 4 white guys and an Egyptian

Well there were no significant changes, maybe one minor wrinkle with King logging 24 min - which may be significant, it's the most minutes he's played in a game since 12/5.

I'm not ready to call him the key to the rest of the season but there is no doubt his ability to rebound, defend, and drive to the basket was on display yesterday, albeit vs an inferior opponent.

He does well vs less physical teams. Thus his success vs non conf also ran teams in the Yum and the least imposing ACC team in ND. He’s definitely useful in spots, but he’s not a grinder and disappears vs a tough, physical high D1 team.

I am. We need that VJ King to play for any post season success. Not only can he take some pressure off Dwayne Sutton, he also provides more height and length on defense. Any offense he produces is a big time bonus too.

...We need that VJ King to play for any post season success...
I don't necessarily agree with that, and I sure wouldn't predict that VJ is gonna do anything significant or consistent...

Good to know. I don't think I made any type of prediction about him either. Since you somewhat disagree about needing VJ to play well to have a better chance of post season success, then please enlighten us as to why his improved play would hurt?

I didn't say I wouldn't welcome contributions from VJ--finally! I simply believe that his performance is not a major indicator of our postseason prospects anymore than he contributed to some of our better wins this year...

Michigan State: 0 pts, 2 reb, 14 min played
at Carolina: 2 pts, 1 reb, 10 min
at VTech: 2 pts, 1 reb, 7 min
NC State: 2 pts, 0 reb, 5 min

Nor is one game against a sub .500 team (ND) in which VJ still couldn't hit the wide side of a barn ANY indication that he will contribute more going forward. I understand people having warm feelings for the guy, but that's all they are at this point.

Truth be told, VJ played a lot better last year under David Padgett...

It's no secret that VJ has regressed as a player. He hasn't improved overall. He has improved his defense. When he first got to UofL, he couldn't guard a fence post. Now he is a decent defender. His offense has went so far south however that he seems to be stuck at the south pole.

I think it's safe to say we're all pulling for him to succeed. If he succeeds, the Cards have a better chance to succeed as a team. Even you can't dispute that (I don't think).
