Cards face Miss St. in their first game.

How do you think the Cards will fare in this Bahamas Tournament?

Watched them the other night . Their inside game will be the difference and they play very hard. Things they are strong at our weakness at this point. Unless a magic light bulb goes on between now and Thursday not confident winning either game. And until Whithers decides he is on the team and gets focused this team is going to have a hard time beating anybody.

If the team plays the same as they have been, then they'll definitely lose. Have to play better defense all game long and take smarter shots too.

I'm interested to see if they can step up to the challenge or if they fall apart.

I have no clue as to how we will do but it will be interesting to see. I have watched quite a few games the past week and nobody really looks that good.

i saw somewhere that Miss St is favored by 1 point. they haven't played anyone in top 150. they beat Detroit Mercy by 13, i think. we beat Detroit Mercy by 6.

Mississippi State has their own influx of transfers and they're still trying to find team chemistry just like Louisville.

We all remember Garrison Brooks from North Carolina when he was actually the pre-season ACC player of the year in 2019. He was a big disappointment after that.

DJ Jeffries transferred from Memphis and he too was a bit of a disappointment after a very good start.

Shakeel Moore we saw at NC State last season and Rocket Watts from Michigan State we have seen before.

MSU went with power conference transfers, not mid major types. They focused more on the front court while UofL focused more on guards.

I actually like the Cards chances in this game if we can make a good percentage of our 3 point shots. I think we have a advantage with our guards.

Of the other two teams watch out for Richmond. I think Maryland is not as good as perceived as they didn't improve their roster from last season.

Here's my predictions for the tournament.

Louisville 71
Mississippi State 67

Richmond 76
Maryland 72

Louisville 79
Richmond 74

I remain optimistic on this UL team, despite less that encouraging performances so far. I expected some slow development with getting the transfers blended into the rotation, but I did not anticipate the lack of contribution from the returnees. There have been periods where Samuel Williamson showed his domination in defensive rebounding, and hitting his medium jumper; only to vanish in critical times when his shot would not fall. Withers, Davis and Williams are equally inconsistent; some really good periods only to be followed with lapses. JJ must have digressed in practice as much as he has in the very few game opportunities.

Some will argue my next observation, but as good as Carlik was last year ……..I believe by mid season we will see West, Faulkner and Locke combine to more than make up for Jones‘ huge percentage of last year’s offense.

With Cross, Locke, West and Faulkner ……. we are a legitimate 3 point threat that opponents will be forced to defend and that should open things up for Withers.
