Our 3rd trip to Pitt. We're now 2-1. Coldest trip. Smallest amount of UofL fans. We were in section 101, a long narrow section next to the other sections we use to fill in previous years. Concourse didn't go all the way around by that section. 'They' put other UofL fans way up across the way from us. Don't know why they didn't move down. Not many in the upper level. No beer sales. Didn't remember that but then I don't usually buy anything in a stadium.
Lots of Pitt fans come in from elsewhere and have a family/friends reunion for the games. They started tailgating by 11:00 am in our hotel lot and the Springhill Inn (we stayed right across from the Pirates field). Nice people. No trash. (Night before was light up Pittsburgh. Again, no problems, no trash. Very impressed.)
We tailgated in our room, watching the men on ESPN 3. (Disappointed in the women's loss.)
That second quarter was so disappointing and then later the blue teams wins 'big' which I am afraid gives them momentum coming into our game. We did come back but too much to overcome. I don't know what to think about Saturday. Would hate to lose to them - if their fans would just concentrate on running the worst run state in the country and care a little less about beating us.
Side note, we go that far, with so few fans. Two people I went to high school with (Seneca) sat next to us. Another grad was in our section. Eating out afterwards, sat next to someone I worked with, then next morning saw two people I worked with.
We ate at Primatis when we arrived Friday, since I will be really old the next time we play at Pittsburgh. Went to Penn Brewery for dinner - thanks to Residence Inn for the shuttle service. Stayed close by Saturday night after game, ready to go home after a loss:-(
Happy holidays. Don't forget, Jeff Walz show tonight at Chili's Old Brownsboro Crossing. Starts at 7:00. Tomorrow, men's basketball. And that game Saturday....
