I didn’t catch that, was Cooley seriously playing defense? Why is Cooley playing offense and defense is this high school football.
I just need this staff to leave, like last week.He was the one who made the tackle by going low leading with his shoulder and that is how he got hurt.
WTF, CSS just sent a QB out of the injury tent to go for it on 4th down with a new play instead of calling a timeout....Looks like Satterfield is calling the plays. He has ran off tackle 4 times already on 2nd and long. It's so predictable.
It took a monumental effort on that side of the ball. No doubt Pitt was thinking after their first drive that it was gonna be easy pickins. The Defense had other ideas against a team that likes to exert its will in the trenches.I'm shocked that I'm even saying this, but the defense saved CSS ass tonight.
Without the 4 turnovers, I don't think we win.
#26 on defense is MJ Griffin. Not Cooley. Why is Cooley playing offense and defense is this high school football.
Don’t let facts ruin a good bitch session. 😇#26 on defense is MJ Griffin. Not Cooley.
Cooley is number 23 he was a defensive back and got hurt when he went low leading with his shoulder to make the tackle. It happened with about 3 1/2 minutes left in the 1st quarter.
Many years ago my team complained about play calling. There are several instances where identical numbers are being worn on the defensive side, to those on the offensive side. I cannot confirm one way or another, but I believe the #23 that was on the defensive side was not Cooley, but rather Griffin.
If you truly believe that “poor play calling” overshadows poor execution; then explain why the same off-tackle run by Cooley resulted in a 15 yard gain and a very critical first down late in the 2nd half that sustained the drive for the go ahead TD.
One of the very few strengths of this football team is, and has been our offensive line, and the subsequent success springing long gains by our RBs between the tackles. I will agree that 4th down incompleted pass was a questionable call, particularly when bringing Malik back in; but suspect the defense expected Malik to run the football.
If that were true, Bama and Georgia would score every play and score 80 plus every game. Many years ago my team complained about play calling.
Coach proceeded to draw ever play we griped about on the board…and then marked “you block him and you block him and you block him….and it’s a TD”
He said “IF YOU EXECUTE we score on ever play we run”
Of course they won’t every play. But even “set up” plays will score if executed.
My wife always watched games (HS, college, NFL) and griped about inside running plays saying “they never work”. I started pointing out every time a play got more than 10 yds. Which of course was not uncommon.
Now it’s A joke. When it happens she says “there’s that play that never works”.
Bottom line, there are no “bad plays” if executed properly. If all our “bad plays” had been executed PROPERLY, Satt would be a genius and a hero today.
As would most coaches.
Speaking of execution, I hope Malik watched plenty of game film from Saturday. If the play is a true read option, he has to make the read and react accordingly. The scouting report is out and it says he's hanging onto it 90% of the time.He said “IF YOU EXECUTE we score on ever play we run”
If that were true, Bama and Georgia would score every play and score 80 plus every game.
