I listened to coach after the game, and he basically said (without out right saying it) that these kids give max effort all the time, but they don't play smart. Now he didn't use the word smart when describing how they play, but said they made poor mental decisions (paraphrasing here).

He's right. The kids played their hearts out every single minute they're on the court. They never played with a high basketball IQ though. They never clicked with knowing what to do and when to do it on offense OR defense. They just used their length and quickness to be as disruptive as possible, and offensively, they tried to use those attributes to their advantage instead of running set plays. Now when they actually did run set plays and everyone did what they were suppose to do, they looked good.

It was a good season. Not great, and it sure ended in a disappointing fashion. L1C4!!

Duke lost to a 15 seed Belmont a few years ago. I am disappointed and this fell short of my expectations, but I'm not ashamed to say Louisville lost to Michigan at all. I felt great after the first half when we didn't have to rally from 20 down like in years past, but our bigs really played soft and too many missed layups. Good season, they'll be back.

Having said that, did CRP mention why they stayed with the switching defense on Warner or was that the players fault for not making the proper switches?

Great question, and no I can't say I heard him mention that.

Warner is a good player and the switching man to man defense where he ended up abusing our guards made him look like a great player. I really didn't understand why they continued to switch. The kids needed to fight thru the screens and stick to their own man so those mismatches didn't happen.

Had a text one semester entitled "Enduring Questions". Yep, strange. But the point is, I guess, to question. Anyway, we'll get 'em next year.

Not hard to understand at all. Pitino was willing to give up 2 point shots instead of 3. The defense didn't lose this game. It was the offense or lack of one.

That's not what Rick said. He said the defense let down in the second half and the offense was good enough to get the win.
