Watched yesterday most of the Pitno PC yesterday. And of course, he was praising the IARP and how thorough a job they did. There was one thing that he talked about that surprised me but I doubt is true. He insinuated that Jurich could have kept his Job if he would have followed instructions to fire RP, but he refused to do so. I find that difficult to believe. I think Postel, Pizza Boy, and others were out to take down UL Athletics and there is no way they were going to keep TJ. I believe TJ knew that so he did the smart thing when the writing is on the wall and made sure he got paid.

It's amazing the reactions I have been seeing in various stories around the internet. UL basically getting raked over the coals. Most of these clowns have no idea what the issues really were and
why the Committee ruled the way it did. The Committee agreed that Addidas was the Culprit in the scheme, not UL in the Bowen issues. And as I have pointed out several times on this Site,
UL instituted more corrective actions by far than any institution involved in this mess. And UL got credit for that from the Committee.

I thought something like this would be the outcome but I am always nervous in matters dealing with the NCAA. They had screwed us over before. Glad to see JH is going to try to get the 2013 BannerBack Up.

I agree - I think that grissom et al tried to have Jurich do their dirty work regarding Pitino but, were always planning on getting rid if both. Six months before any of this came to light a guy who knows grissom and considers him his mentor (not Tyra) told me point blank that he was going to do whatever was necessary to get rid of Rick and that if TJ wasn’t completely compliant - he was going to fire him as well.

Glad that UofL finally played it smart by going the committee route rather than dealing with the biased and regressive ncaa infractions group. Gotta also think in light of all of these million dollar NIL deals, the notion of paying a kid 100K seems quaint.

I think Jurich once said, “if he goes, I go” referring to Rick. He attached himself to Pitino and was loyal to a fault.

Rentalman:

I believe everything RP said in his interview was accurate. The BOT "had to have cause" in order to terminate TJ and his refusing to terminate Pitino was all they needed, as failure to comply with the President instruction is sufficient cause.

I am quite positive that TJ was either listening live to Pitino's interview, or he would most certainly hear the comments pertaining to himself later, and if they were inaccurate you can bet he would dispute Pitino's recall.

My memory was very clear on those events at that time, and TJ was crystal clear that "he wanted to have all of the facts before he did anything". I did not always agree with Zipp when we were on the Premium Rivals Site, but we were both adamant that Postel, Grissom and Schnatter influenced a "rush to judgement" with the BoT to fire Jurich and Pitino, based entirely on their own personal agendas. They used the prematurely released public FBI report, which has since been proven to be filled with inaccuracies that were founded on innuendo and rumors. The FBI has been on record as acknowledging the intent was to sensationalize the investigative work, and used hearsay in their final report.

I was never disappointed that Pitino left, just knew the manner and timing of his firing was totally mis-handled. TJ was the real victim, along with UL fans.

Committee is the wrong term to use as Pitino emphasized the NCAA committee is made up of Mitch Barnhart’s (my add on) and others who are conflicting to an honest ruling. Just like Pitino said ‘committee’s’ listen to here say and are not unbiased. But the IARP does it professionally. I agree with you though there were people on the inside at UofL after the sports programs and that’s sad to have to put up with.

The biggest problem with the whole fiasco was the lack of due process. I’m glad all the major players involved in the decision are gone.

Pitino said that Jurich refused to fire him on the spot. And when you look at the dismal state of U of L men’s basketball now and what came out of the FBI/adidas fiasco, that was proven to be right course of action.

Jurich knew what to do and when to do it—or not…

and regretfully loyalty is the worst human trait, it means you overlook every crime, sin, and horrible deed of the person, which means if you are loyal to person who does all these things you are doing them too and just as bad as the person doing the deeds. TJ essentially fuc%ed karen sypher, essentially brought the hookers into minardi hall, and basically paid bowen himself becasue he refused to punish rp for any of these. he deserved to be fired just as rp did. both horrible humans who'd never want to be a freind to. honestly is a much better trait.

All of that logic is fine in hindsight...
